Sorry to see you have fallen on "hard times" :12

Don't panic! Just get a batch of 4 kittens.. and turn again away from the dark side :8 :8 :8 :8

7 is the most indoor cats we have ever had. Old age and some unfortunate road accidents has meant changes in numbers.

Down to 3 cats now.

I have twice taken on complete litters of 4 kittens.

ft I love dogs too!! Rescued them all my life!! I would like to hug Samson!!! :81

Was at the Holistic Vets today, getting Lucy her overall/heart vitamins.

I asked her why is it when sometimes I try to pet Lilly, she pulls away, like "DON'T -- TOUCH -- ME!"
She said "Because she is a cat!" and laughed! I said "And she CAN!" :64

Dogs just don't do that. Cats are amazing... I have always had dogs.

Samson is a Cane Corso and a big mush unless you mess with my wife or kids then he becomes a monster.

ft - Where is that breed from? Spain? What were they bred for? Guard dogs?
I have had dogs all my life. Last year, someone moved and LEFT this poor cat, (looks like my avatar)
to fend for herself - probably thinking someone would take her. By the time I saw her, almost dying. Dehydrated, starving (3+ pounds underweight which is a LOT for a cat, FLEAS, limping.

Put the poor baby in my bedroom with supplies. Was afraid she would freak out from my Beagle - Lucy.
She couldn't know Lucy wouldn't hurt anything!! Took her to the Vet and within a few days of that TLC, she no longer limped!

For years I called all the ads "Free To A Good Home" in 3 local papers. Have to do that early because the BUNCHERS who sell them to Laboratories for experiments are FAST!!! First ones calling! That was tough - getting home from my "music jobs" around 3:00 AM. BUT I set my alarm for 6:00 AM - and did it. THEY are WORTH IT!
Years ago when I did it, people didn't know much about that. It IS THEIR LIVING!! That is their full time job! We thought they were going to a nice family, NO a LABORATORY for EXPERIMENTS till they die.
Some come with a woman, making them look like a "family". UGH! :10 I did this for about 20 years!

Gave all kinds of tips. Do they work? Where? Check it out. Check with nieghbors... lot of animals coming and going? Ask kids around there too. Forget now, was about 20 years ago.

Cane Corso is an Italian Mastiff people often get him confused with the Presa Canario which is from Spain but the Canario is much more aggressive. Cane Corso was used by Romans in warfare and also used to hunt boar and they were used to fight bears. They make great guard dogs I got Samson from a breeder called body guard Cane Corso they train these dogs for the police. I haven't met a person who would be willing to enter my house uninvited.

I don't think I've ever met a Cane Corso, but my previous dog, a 75 lb. male Rough Collie, had a ~200 lb. Mastiff smitten with him. She'd knock him down and lay on top of him. (She didn't hurt him.) It was pretty funny.

ALERT!!

As some of you may know, I am taking Lucy to a Holistic VET to help her in her very old age - and with this new tumor. It hasn't grown in 4 months. Yeaaa!

I will share with you the information my Holistic Vet gave me about feeding CATS.

**Now, about CATS.**
I asked the Vet how can I keep Lilly optimum. She said "GET HER OFF KIBBLE." The big goal is to have her completely on canned food! Lilly was raised on Kibble I see -she liked that and wouldn't eat canned food. The Vet said then - little by little, mix in less and less kibble, more and more canned food in her bowl - until she is getting nothing but canned food. They had this "Food Topper" which is working great! It is a very healthy "snack" - (she sold me salmon for Lilly) and told me to take one piece (not small) and break it up over her meal.) It's just one ingredient, freeze dried.
BTW her fur is looking more and more beautiful.
ALSO she said it would be good if I wanted to sprinkle a little "Prowl" or "Grace" from "The Honest Kitchen". They are on line. Can call them. Lucy eats dehydrated dog food from "The Honest Kitchen" now. (They said THAT is a FINE Company!). That, and vegs, special meat patties (1/4 per meal), a fish oil capsule and vits/heart help - for her heart murmur.)
You can sprinkle a little of "Prowl" or "Grace" (for cats), in with your cats food and a little water. They gave me samples to start with.
Give them ALL - your cats and dogs - a hug from me! :81 :8 I DO have both!

Thanks for the cat food news, Joni. I used to give canned food all the time.

And how heartwarming it was to read about how you would ans. free cat ads in order to save them from being given to labs etc. I had heard that years ago and that it was best not to offer them free because of that. And yes how low that they would pretend to be a family that would love the cat.

I never met a Cane Corso either.

Thanks Pack.

It was so hard getting home around 2:30 AM, up again at 6. Coffee, then try to wake up, BEAT THEM to the calls!!
UGH. Did it for 20 years or so. Both cats and dogs.

Actually, I started calling/meeting the man who started the Greyhound Rescue. Half asleep and he would say,
"Joanna it's me!!" Forget his name now. I think there are branches now too. I wrote down his number and remembered ... from then on. They would kill them if they were not FAST anymore, and winning in the Races!!

They are worth it. Cats and Dogs!!

Wow MM.

Sounds like Jodi Arias. She knocks 'em down and jumps on top of them!

Did one about 12 hours or so after the murder. Had to drive to get to him. First "date". Met in a big public convention. Fast worker...

HA HA HA HA!!
R. was that for me? :31

I am laughing so much here. THAT'S why I have put this bathing off for so long. So much on my plate here ... then THIS??

Have to tell you, Lilly is now eating 3/4 canned food and 1/4 kibble. I do break up the flash freeze dried Salmon Snacks all over the top of her meal, as the Holistic Vet suggested. It is working and I notice something. Her fur looks (hard to explain), more healthy, more shiny, more hydrated??? She is looking even more beautiful than before. :91 Looking VERY healthy!

How often should we comb long haired cats? Every 3 days? She seems to like it ... basically.

HA HA everytime I think of the entire thing ... I think of finding someone who will do it.

I will never forget when I was in the big Vet Hospital back in Philadelphia wth my dog, I saw a woman crying, holding this cute little dog. She told me she got him a flea dip, and the idiot blinded him!! Little 1 year old dog, blind. :10
