I learned today how to sneak pills into your pet. Lucy has to take some.

1. Give a "decoy" piece of food. Piece of cheese, etc.

2. Give THE REAL THING - the pill buried in another piece of cheese.

3. HAVE THIS THIRD TREAT READY SO THEY WILL CONCENTRATE ON THE THIRD PIECE ... (SECOND DECOY).

Beagles are smart. They usally spit out the pills!!!

She is doing better ... had horrible diarrhea. Seems stopped, but not sure if the breast cancer is back. She is 13. Had a hard life before she met me, almost bred to death. They usually don't live long - the Vet said but Lucy has been doing good!!! :79

I told a neighbor about those cancer fighting vegetables, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower and he steamed them for his dog. "Jamie" surprised the Vet. He couldn't understand his quality of life, and how come he was living so long! I called him and told him why, since my neighbor DIDN'T!!! :97 I started the vegs tonight with Lucy.

Oh, poor Lucy! :81

I'm sorry your dog had the runs...Image

Glad to hear she's doing better! Is she eating the vegetables? My dog likes them.

(I thought you would like my joke!)

I sure hope it's not back! Image Maybe it's just a benign fatty tumor. Older dogs get lots of them. Image

MM you are always so supportive :84 :86 :89
I am so glad I rescued this little girl. :81 Always rescues, never had the pleasure of a 4 legged baby.

Didn't like the look on the Vet's face though when she told me. She said sometimes it comes back.
I wanted to take her to the Hospital around here where they do nothing but surgeries. I was big time overruled. She's my girl!!! We'll see how this ends.

I am getting weary... I tell you. :94

My pets have always been rescues, too, until I got my Maltese. (I had searched for a small breed rescue and even filled out a huge application for a Pekingese in need of a home, but they never got back to me! While I was waiting for them to contact me, I was at my Vet for my cat's checkup. The Vet mentioned that there was a Maltese breeder in the next room with 2 puppies. I told her that I loved Maltese and had been looking to rescue one. She left the room and returned with the puppies and put them in my arms. I was in love!!! :79 Next thing you know the breeder was in the room...and well...I was the new owner of a Maltese puppy! She was worth every penny.) :81

:32 I know you're weary. :44 Lean on us! :32

What a sweet love story. Awwww. What did the babies weigh? You only picked one? lol

I am in control I think. Called the Surgeon Hospital and talked to the Surgeon who operated on Lucy before.
I do feel more comfortable with someone who does these things all the time. He reassured me about her new heart murmur. Said they operate all the time on pets with serious heart conditions. I really like him. He called me from the operating room last time.

Next Wed. I have a consultation with him. He will have her file. Just felt the lump. The size of a small walnut.
Oh my poor baby..

Life SURE isn't easy.

Big hugs and :19

Thanks MM for being there for me. Other friends are trying to help too... :19

I don't remember, but I had to wait 3 weeks until they were old enough to take home. There were only two in the litter, a boy and a girl. It was a difficult choice, they were both so sweet!! (I couldn't afford both.) For some reason, all my previous pets had been male! I'm sure Kacie's brother is wonderful, but I'm so glad I decided to pick my "baby girl"!!!

Me too. Always males before my 2 girls now. Are girls more loving? I can't remember.

Going to make some steamed vegetables now for Lucy. Broccoli, carrots and cauliflower. I KNOW it extends life and gives a better quality life ...

Not sure if it can beat it - though ... :10

We will fight here. I am doing the very best I know how ... for my Lucy.
She is a very pretty female Beagle. Eyes black outlined, as if eyeliner.
Very very pretty face.

I think I have two beauties. NOT that it mattered!! Turned out that way.

My Lucy was bred so many times, she has separation anxiety. They kept taking her babies away from her, all the time. Poor thing...

:51 SOME GOOD NEWS!!! :91 Lucy's Vet (not surgeon) called tonight. All kinds of tests, Liver, Kidneys, blood work, all VERY VERY GOOD!!! Honestly ... when you hear either good news or bad news you somehow don't hear much after that! Anyhow, she was excited and "I got" what little I wrote above. Good news - so far!

Happy Days Are Here Again :DN4

MM thanks for always being there for me. :79

Please keep praying - those of you who do. Thanks. :84

My baby Lucy is not well now, but after she is all better.
She will be having a lump removed on the 16th. He doesn't think it's cancer. Did you know they have soft Elizabethan collars now for them? Better when they lay down, etc.
They are to keep them from licking their sutures.

Ooops interruptions. Sorry disjointed not making sense. I am - - upset. Sorry. :10

Was going to say when Lucy is better - I am really going to start baking!! :45

The latest. Heart murmur - 2-3 on a scale of 6 being the worst.
She is anywhere from 12 - 15 years old. We don't know.

Took her to the Surgery Vet Hospital for a conference. The lump moves ... probably NOT cancer then. This is on the opposite side of the one that did have cancer last year. (We - they are in "pairs") lol

Anynhow, the 16th of October. So hard to know what to do ... He thinks her lungs are ok - not sure if he saw something ... wasn't on some Xrays. Showed me. OMG. Not sure.

I am feeding her those vegetables!! They work.

Boy, Bette Davis sure had it right. "Getting old isn't for SISSYS!!!"

My Vet said she is doing very very well for having been bred so often when young. I did the best I could ... :19

I haven't jumped ship!! I am very busy with my Lucy - Beagle. Has a mass on her breast, again this year. Last year it was cancer. Don't know about this, but a mass.

Found a great holistic Vet, taking her there too for optimum good health to fight whatever this
monster is.

I can't put her thru surgery again ... every year? She is 13-14. That is about the lifespan of a Beagle.

Been busy about her, surgeon, tests, agonizing, etc. I have missed all of you!! :19

Holding off on surgery sounds like best idea.

Maintain a watching brief :81

Thanks so much for that R. Not easy. One assistant Vet said 6 months ...

I am tortured somewhat. Her life is in my hands. What pressure/stress when you love a little friend -
so MUCH! We have been thru SO much together. :19

I AM impressed with the Holistic place. THEY were the only ones out here who asked me WHO was her Vet back in PA - 8 years ago? They want to look into that and try to find out her age, etc. as best as we can.
NO other Vet here, did that!! I gave them the phone number AND my former name.

To quote NZ comedian "Fred Dagg" singing "Talk to the animals"

:DN4 " If we could talk to the animals....to the animals....." :DN4

Spoiler:
What a boring load of old rubbish that would be!
