Scottish wildlife cameraman films polar bear and it tries to break through his safety pod

Despite being terrified, Gordon Buchanan kept his camera rolling and wound up with truly frightening footage of one of the planet’s most intimidating man-eaters.

A polar bear chomped her sharp teeth against the protective pod of a wildlife cameraman, who kept his composure as he filmed the horrific encounter, despite being terrified.

Scottish cameraman Gordon Buchanan was filming polar bears throughout the northernmost part of Norway, Svalbard, which is an Arctic archipelago. His team constructed a safety pod, so he could get as close possible to the largest carnivore on earth without turning into lunch.

“It is one of the most powerful animals on the planet, one of the most intimidating animals on the planet and one of the few animals that actually see us as food,” Buchanan said.

Isn't it strange how adorable polar bears can seem it pictures, but they are really such ferocious predators!



I'm surprised that cameraman was so composed. I think I would have fainted!
