Considering the way the state presented their "case", Dr. Bao can be forgiven for thinking they were actually trying to lose.

In what way could the State have presented a case designed to *win*?

DOJ investigation into Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman is still 'active,' Holder says

  • Attorney General Eric Holder said Thursday that the 'matter is ongoing'
  • He did not give an end date for the DOJ probe into the February 26, 2012 shooting of Martin
  • Zimmerman was acquitted of murder last summer but DOJ could still bring federal civil charges against him

The Department of Justice may still bring civil charges against Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman, Attorney General Eric Holder revealed on Thursday.

Holder told reporters on Thursday that DOJ had not concluded its investigation into the February 26, 2012 incident and the 'matter is ongoing.'

'There are active steps that we are still in the process of taking,' Holder said, according to The Hill. 'There are witnesses who we want to speak to as a result of some recent developments.'

George Zimmerman is a victim of Government terrorism
Thursday, January 23, 2014

Guest Blog by Rumpole of Random Topics
Rumours continue as regards possible DOJ legal action against George Zimmerman. Some sort of Federal Civil Rights charge. It seems to me that this was an idle threat made after Zimmerman was acquitted in the criminal (Murder2) case. A cynical move by Holder and his gang to appease the BGI and his political favourites. Surely baseless since an early FBI investigation had already found no evidence of racism in Zimmerman’s past, and besides that, Zimmerman's past should NOT be the issue. Even if somebody is arguably "racist" in day to day life (which George is not), then still such serious charges need to be about the incident in question.

George Zimmerman attends Lake Mary gun show
By Caitlin Dineen, Orlando Sentinel

Image

With a smile on his face, George Zimmerman spent Saturday afternoon posing for photos, sharing hugs and shaking hands with gun enthusiasts at a firearms expo in Lake Mary.

"It's so odd to me," said Zimmerman, about the celebrity treatment he receives in public. "[But] it is appreciated."

In his first interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Zimmerman described life after his acquittal last year in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. The former Neighborhood Watch volunteer shot the unarmed black teen in Sanford on Feb. 26, 2012.

Now life for the 30-year-old is completely different.

He's always on the move.

He's in debt.

And he's constantly receiving death threats.

George Zimmerman not expected to face civil rights charges in Trayvon Martin death
By Sari Horwitz October 1 at 6:36 PM

The Justice Department is not expected to bring civil rights charges against George Zimmerman in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin, according to three law enforcement officials, despite allegations that the killing was racially motivated.

The federal investigation of Zimmerman was opened two years ago by the department’s civil rights division, but officials said there is insufficient evidence to bring federal charges. The investigation technically remains open, but it is all but certain the department will close it.

Investigators still want to “dot their i’s and cross their t’s,” said one official, who like others spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment on the matter.

No Civil Rights Charges Against George Zimmerman in Trayvon Martin Death Because "There Isn't a Case, and There Never Was," Says Project 21's Horace Cooper

DOJ's George Zimmerman Intervention Exposes Politicized Obama Justice Department

Former Head of Zimmerman Investigation on Rumored Short List to Replace Eric Holder

Washington, D.C. - Responding to a report that the U.S. Department of Justice will not file civil rights charges against George Zimmerman for the 2012 death of Trayvon Martin, a legal expert with the Project 21 black leadership network said federal intervention was a mistake from the beginning and something any new nominee for attorney general should pledge to avoid during his or her tenure.

Understanding the Obama Administration's politicization of the case could become extremely important if President Obama nominates Labor Secretary Thomas Perez, who oversaw the Zimmerman investigation while working at the Justice Department, to become the next Attorney General.

"A federal civil rights investigation was premature and more the result of a politicized Justice Department than any actual interest in justice," said Project 21 Co-Chairman Horace Cooper, a legal commentator who taught constitutional law at George Mason University in Virginia and is a former leadership legal counsel in the U.S. House of Representatives. "It should have never been initiated. After two years, it's clear there isn't a case and there never was."

Grand jury assembling in civil-rights case involving George Zimmerman
By Rene Stutzman, Staff Writer

A federal grand jury will meet in downtown Orlando Wednesday to hear testimony about whether Trayvon Martin's civil rights were violated when Neighborhood Watch volunteer George Zimmerman shot him in the chest, according to court paperwork.

A U.S. Department of Justice attorney from Washington, D.C., Mark Blumberg, has issued at least one subpoena for Wednesday in the case.

Blumberg would not comment on the grand jury session, but the federal panel is to meet at 9 a.m. at the federal courts building on Central Avenue in downtown Orlando to hear evidence in the case.

It's not clear how many witnesses have been ordered to appear, but at least one, Frank Taaffe, Zimmerman's former friend and longtime defender, has been.

Hi safvet

The link is good here :)

It is unbelievable. Blatantly hounding the man...the threat alone is "terrorism" IMO

Double jeopardy be damned. If the Holder does not like a verdict he can charge same crime with new "Civil Rights" name.

I'm still wanting someone to explain what jurisdiction the DOJ has to convene a grand jury or consider charges against Zimmerman.

It's a last ditch Democratic desperate ploy to get out the black vote (many blacks are turning against them).
