Looks like Corey is up against some stiff competition.

Florida prosecutor who charged Zimmerman could lose re-election bid

Yeah right???

Quote:
All three GOP candidates squared off this week in a terse hour long debate where Corey defended her decision to charge Zimmerman and said the case had become controversial because of too much publicity and news media attention.

LMAO!!!

Quote:
Her two opponents have questioned her handling of the Zimmerman case as one reason the veteran 61-year-old prosecutor should leave after serving two terms in office. But Corey has come under fire for other cases, and for the role her campaign played in using a loophole under Florida law to ensure that the election was closed to Democrats and independents.

"Unfortunately over the last eight years the decisions, actions rhetoric and explanations of Angela Corey have eroded our community's confidence in our justice system," said Melissa Nelson, a 44-year-old attorney and former prosecutor who is the lead challenger against Corey.

Hi Londo :28

I decided to take a peek on twitter and see what is being said about her. This is heading of first, most tweeted, article.

This Florida prosecutor has charged 77 kids as adults this year; 65 of them were black, nearly half were under 16.
Is Angela Corey the Cruelest Prosecutor in America?

LOL

The biggie is a 12 y/o she prosecuted as an adult. :eek

eta: OMG .. look at this poor kid in court (and in jail) with all these adult prisoners.

I am SURE he is not in Jail with the big guys... ref. The Chism case. Even after sentencing he is in a youth facility until he is older.

That's exactly what I was thinking, about the Chism cases.

It’s unclear where those checks and balances were when Corey charged Cristian Fernandez with first-degree murder as an adult and then fought his transfer to a juvenile facility—because, she alleged, he was “too dangerous” to be around other young people.

Sending 12-year-old Cristian to an adult prison certainly numbers among Corey’s many troubling decisions.

He was in an adult prison for three weeks, but in solitary confinement. But still .....

Sorry Rumpole, ran across it on Foxnews. I hope she's kicked to curb where she belongs, she should have never been a prosecutor. She belongs in jail for legal assault on innocent people

Melissa Nelson, an unknown corporate lawyer and former prosecutor three months ago, cleared her path to become one of the most powerful and influential figures in Northeast Florida on Tuesday night when she easily defeated incumbent 4th Judicial State Attorney Angela Corey.

The election caps a dizzying rise for Nelson and an equally shocking fall for Corey, one of the most polarizing political figures in Jacksonville history who generated national attention and enormous criticism for her prosecutions of George Zimmerman, Marissa Alexander, 12-year-old Cristian Fernandez and many others. Corey will depart office in the first week of January as the first incumbent state attorney in modern history to lose a contested election.
