The 1st explosion happened 10 days ago, two today.

  • Explosion reported Tuesday night in southwest Austin, one male injured
  • Police say the device was not a package bomb but an 'incendiary device'
  • Investigators don't think it is connected to recent string of package bombs

Reddit user claims to be Austin bomber, compares himself to 'Zodiac Killer' and says he wants world to 'burn'

A mysterious social media user claims to be behind the bombings that have terrorized Texas in recent weeks, vowing that he won't stop until he becomes "as prolific as the Zodiac Killer."

"My intention is not to kill people. I am doing this simply because I want to watch the world burn," someone using the handle "austinbomber" posted on Reddit Tuesday.

The anonymous user made a string of disturbing messages in which he compared himself to the Zodiac, the notorious serial killer who was never caught or identified even though he murdered at least five people in California in the 1960s and '70s.

The self-professed Austin bomber denied suggestions that the attacks are racially motivated.

Was reading at a blog... I see that "Q" may have predicted the bombings, or did he?

He said 3 bombshells this week, but so did Hannity, but "Q" is lying low because the FBI opened a case on Q.... :lol

Geesh, I wish they would reveal who "it" is if the FBI are really looking into it. And while they are in there, grab the wannabe famous Reddit idiot too. :roll

I hope there is news on this tomorrow. Good news.

Austin bombing suspect dead, I-35 shut down

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Sources with APD confirm to CBS Austin that the Austin bombing suspect who has terrorized the city since March 2nd is believed to be dead in an incident involving officers along I-35 in Round Rock.

Police were closing in on the suspect when he killed himself by detonating some sort of explosive device, according to our source.

I-35 is closed while a massive presence of law enforcement-- including Austin Police, FBI, and ATF investigators--process the scene, which involved officers firing at the suspect.

Several helicopters were seen hovering overhead.

I-35 is expected to be closed for 4 to 6 hours during the investigation.

The five connected explosions killed two people and injured six others. They began on March 2nd.

Surveillance video from the FedEx Office store on Brodie Lane in South Austin helped investigators zero in on the person of interest who is now reportedly dead.

Law enforcement officials identified the suspected Austin bomber who blew himself up as police converged on him as 24-year-old Mark Anthony Conditt of suburban Pflugerville, where he lived with two roommates.

Austin Bomber Describes Bombs He Constructed In Recorded Confession On His Phone
March 21, 2018 at 8:45PM CT

AUSTIN, Texas (CBSDFW.COM/AP) – The deceased bombing suspect Mark Conditt left behind a 25 minute recording on his phone describing the seven bombs he constructed, Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said Wednesday evening.

Chief Manley said Conditt did not mention terrorism or hate, but described the recording as an “outcry of a very challenged young man… I know everybody is interested in a motive and understanding why. And we’re never going to be able to put a (rationale) behind these acts,” Chief Manley said.
