Sunday Biker Gang Shooting Leaves Nine Dead, Several Injured

WACO: (May 17, 2015) Three rival motorcycle gangs turned a local restaurant into a shooting gallery Sunday afternoon and when the gunfire was over, nine people were dead and several were injured.

Waco police Sunday afternoon, assisted by Department of Public Safety troopers, police officers from several cities and deputies from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office were surrounding the Twin Peaks Restaurant, in the Central Texas Market Place after several people were reported shot during a rival motorcycle gang fight, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Police and troopers were in the parking lot trying to secure the area and protect citizens when a fight broke out inside the restaurant and spilled into the parking lot.

Swanton said the fight quickly escalated from fists and feet to chains, clubs and knives, then to gunfire.

Gang members were shooting at each other and officers at the scene fired their weapons, as well, Swanton said.

The scene at the Market Place between Don Carlos and Twin Peaks was absolute chaos, Swanton said.

The police were on scene in anticipation of several biker gangs converging on a bar. As anticipated a fight broke out, escalated, and ended in a full shootout between rival gangs with police returning fire amid the chaos. Raw aftermath video shows police standing between two rival gangs and trying to investigate the shootings.

Update 6:00pm (EST): Police Presser

• Police were anticipating violence.
  
• Local Police had stationed SWAT unit around building prior to gunfire.
  
• All shots fired were inside building.
  
• All victims were shot inside building. Bodies in parking lot were dragged there by people from inside the building.
  
• SWAT Unit handled the building as an “active shooter scene”.
  
• Surrounding “outdoor area” still not considered safe for a 15 mile perimeter.
  
• Numerous gang members still inbound to area.
  
• Local, county, state and federal law enforcement also inbound.
  
• Inside building is a scene of extreme bloodbath of carnage, bodies and horrible violence.

Waco Texas Biker gang shooting: 9 dead, Twin Peaks Restaurant blamed

A shootout involving up to 5 Waco Texas biker gangs has led to at least nine persons dead and 18 hospitalized at local suburban restaurant, Twin Peaks Bar and Grill.

Although cops have to date declined to name the bike gangs involved, the colors of the following bike gangs were observed: Cossacks Motorcycle Club, the Scimitars Motorcycle Club and the Bandidos Motorcycle Club.

According to a report via KXXV what had started as a physical assault just after midday escalated into a confrontation involving chains, clubs, knives and gunfire into a mall parking lot.

Despite cops holding rival gang members at bay, police warned armed individuals were flocking from all over Texas to continue the armed confrontation.

Aware of a simmering feud between rival gangs in recent weeks at the venue, at least 12 Waco officers in addition to state troopers were at the restaurant when the fight

After an initial press briefing that all the deceased were killed inside the bar/grill, the police have now expanded their statements to include some of the bikers shot by responding police.

WACO, Texas — At least some of the bikers involved in a gang fight Sunday that left nine people dead and 18 injured were shot by police, authorities said.

The violence erupted shortly after noon at a busy Waco shopping center along Interstate 35 that draws a large lunchtime crowd. Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said eight people died at the scene of the shooting at Twin Peaks restaurant and another person died at a hospital.

Preliminary findings indicate a dispute broke out in a bathroom and then spilled into the restaurant where it escalated to include knives and firearms, he said. There were 150 to 200 gang members inside the restaurant at the time.

About 170 people have been arrested on suspicion of engaging in organized crime after a Sunday bloodbath at a Waco, Texas, restaurant involving rival biker gang members and then a shootout with police that left nine dead and at least 18 wounded, authorities said.



The shootings are being investigated as capital murder because of the number of people killed, said Waco Police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton. No one has been charged with murder yet.

The bikers were “not here to drink beer and eat barbecue,” Swanton said. “They came with violence in mind.”

“This is Anytown, USA. This can happen in any town across the USA,” Swanton said at a midday briefing at the shopping center that turned into a bloody arena when members from five motorcycle gangs fought with knives, clubs and guns.

“Unfortunately, they chose a Sunday in Waco, Texas,” he said.

On Monday, police worked the scene, collecting evidence and diagramming the site. Every bullet casing and every blood spot will be mapped and examined.

More than 100 motorcycles and 50 to 75 other vehicles were expected to be inspected and held as evidence in the far-reaching investigation that will probably take time to sort out. Swanton and others who saw the inside of the restaurant said it is littered with shell casings and pools of blood.

Among the unanswered questions is who fired the fatal shots that killed nine. Along with the bikers, police fired shots when the melee erupted inside the Twin Peaks restaurant and spilled onto an outdoor patio and then the parking lot

I personally don't see them doing anything right now, even if the cops are saying there has been a warning put out..that's one thing bikers don't want...attention of LE...and right now there is too much on them.. as one guy said, it may die down, but they will NOT forget!!

170 arrest, that's A LOT, to process...and each one has a million dollar bail to come up with...that's crazy..guess the cops don't want anyone going any where.BUT, to some of these bikers, a million bucks is a drop in the hat..so will be interesting to see who gets bailed out!

What these guys did is horrific, what they do is horrific but I have to mention the stark contrast in their behavior when the police are their in force. No one is running around screaming about the poor innocent babies, they are sitting there taking their punishment like defeated men. They knew that savagery carried a price and they are going to pay it. Sure they will fight it in court but they are not out there blaming the police for killing innocent bikers. At least they own up to their own thuggery.

That is exactly what would happen. And even if it was explained to them slowly and using graphics they still would not understand dopes with a microphone.

I am still trying to figure out the Twin Peaks melee. Something is odd about it. I can't put my finger on it but I think it is very strange that there is no pedestrian video of it anywhere. Then again it is Texas not Baltimore or Ferguson where folks are sitting around waiting to record the next go around, people in Texas may simply be smart enough to take cover rather than record a live gun battle.

I did see a clip of one person posting inside the restaurant next door, was really short, showed a few ppl laying on ground and they said someone was shot..that was all of it...I'm sure the cops have it by now...
