WOW, I really enjoyed the Zucchero... incredible! Thank you for that, the first track Peppermint and Rosemary for some reason reminded me of another "lovestruck Romeo"

I "discovered" Zucchero when I first discovered Andrea Bocelli.

A video of an early live Bocelli concert in Tuscany (1990's) included a duet with Zucchero (Miserere)

When I came to look he had been well known in Europe for decades.. but was new to me.

He is (I guess) an Italian "pop star" but he handles the cross over and link to Opera well... I love the sound of Italian even though I don't speak the language myself. Zucchero has some versions of his songs in Spanish.. they are great too. Personally I don't like versions sung in English.. I prefer the Italian or the Spanish.. just sounds "wrong" in English

So..... My first exposure to Zucchero Fornaciari

Andrea Bocelli & Zucchero - Miserere

Since we are doing Elvis in Movies... this one pops into mind..

I did go and see a few Elvis movies.. but they grew a bit tedious... shame.

An early success story for WELSH rock/pop

Although on a personal level things did not work out well.. financial woes and then several suicides (I forget details)

I only recently discovered that one of my Fave songs (by Harry Nilson - Without You) was actually written by the Badfinger guys.

Harry Nilsson Without You RARE Piano Demo

Nice, I have never heard that version of the song previously. I was reminded of Badly Drawn Boy there are many titles but I finally decided on this one the first one I heard.

Badly Drawn Boy- Something to Talk ABout

This is a very good friend of mine we grew up together. Video was shot near my house.

I have a Best Of Badfinger CD. I didn't know that they wrote Without You. I vaguely remember that Paul McCartney was involved with them somehow (discovered? produced? cowrote songs?).

Yes. Paul took on "proteges" like Badfinger, Mary Hopkins.. maybe the other beatles did too? part of the "Apple Company" thing.. supporting up and coming talent. Paul wrote "Come and get it".... Badfinger's biggest hit?

Badfinger - Come And Get It

I was pretty sure he co-wrote one of the big hits, but couldn't remember which one, but it does sound very McCartneyish.

One of my favorites from Bocelli

Edit Rumpole:
To embed a Youtube video:
Post url as you have, but delete all except what "v="

In your example:
ThQaYNXXL4Y

Highlight that and click [youtube] button

And........... I created a separate thread for Opera/Tenors....
Just so it does not get lost amongst general rock/pop songs etc.
