The Brexit door is right there. Why don't the UK just leave?

Analysis of Referendum votes.....

Over-65s were more than twice as likely as under-25s to have voted to Leave the European Union

64% Vs 29%

https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politics/ar ... tain-voted

That's my crowd. We remember the shenanigans and betrayals involved in joining the EEC (without consulting the people). When we did get a chance to ok the deal, we remember what we THOUGHT joining a trading block meant... which was NOT same as ceding sovereignty to a Euro-state :roll
We remember France (in particular) were dead set against letting UK join. De Gaulle especially was openly anti-UK (and anti-USA)... a betrayal hard to stomach from a defeated, surrendering, unknown bad general, who was granted sanctuary in UK for years and basically set up as the "French leader in exile', while other French politicians remained in France as a puppet government for the Nazis. UK and its Commonwealth, the free Poles and the might of USA expended its own brave military to ragain France (and the rest of Europe).. only to get De Gaulle's ingratitude and betrayal soon after France was liberated.. and certainly in the 60s in regards EEC membership.
I doubt many knew joining EEC involved signing a comprehensive Treaty (Rome Treaty) laying out a written Constitution binding the UK.

Young people under 25 don't know shit (mostly) :roll

According to Nigel Farage...

The "Deal" that the EU wrote for Theresa May is not a deal, it's a TREATY!

Brexit in Name Only - BINO (pronounced "Beano")

Brexit means Brexit... LEAVE the EU
Brexit will involve negotiating UK interactions with EU in the same way such arrangements are made with other nations around the world. Simple really!

These Theresa May "negotiations" with EU over the past 3 years (and now talks with Corbyn), are NOT about finding "a deal to enact Brexit". They are about stopping Brexit, at least watering it down so that UK in fact remains, at least in part. They would be more aptly described as "Remain Deals" rather than "Brexit deals"

Q says....
Brexit - trust the deal
#Remain

IF some MIRACLE UNICORN DEAL were to be found now...

It would make May and most of Parliament look VERY stupid to have missed seeing it for 3 years
:roll

The only thing that makes sense is to LEAVE THE EU.... normal civilized interactions as with Countries outside the EU now... WTO rules (if needed) for trade with EU.

This Brexit fiasco is simply "not cricket"...

Quote:

Were Brexit a cricket match: batsman scores boundary 4 albeit ball creeps over the line. Opposition fans throw tantrum - umpires ( who in hearts didn't want boundary) spend 3 yrs mulling it over. Determined to deny a boundary. It was still a 4

Thersa May, Parliament, and the remainiac hordes have actually Taken BREXIT off the table :doh

I did already propose an EU Boycott (March 26) :cool

FYI a list of COUNTRIES to boycott....

Rumpole wrote:
These protests are all well and good... but IGNORED by the powers that be. Look at the outcry over Tommy Robinson's abuse by The State... yet they continue to attack/try him.

I DO NOT want to see violence/riots... but it is time for more action than just a March/Protest.

My suggestion is to "Boycott the EU"

I KNOW Brexit is NOT about reducing trade with EU... but in this instance to send them a message, financial pain is a weapon. People should reduce purchases of EU country products and services.. and stop visiting those Countries. I realize that it wont be all transactions... but it could be a significant reduction?

List of EU Countries
Austria
Bulgaria
Croatia
Cyprus
Czechia
Denmark
Estonia
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Hungary
Ireland
Italy
Latvia
Lithuania
Luxembourg
Malta
Netherlands
Poland
Portugal
Romania
Slovakia
Slovenia
Spain
Sweden

EU rejects Theresa May's bid for short delay to Brexit

Britain’s membership could be extended to March 2020 after PM fails to sell her plan in dash to Paris and Berlin

Theresa May’s request for a short Brexit delay has been torn up, putting the EU on track to instead extend Britain’s membership until 2020.

Despite the prime minister’s desperate dash to Paris and Berlin, to convince leaders of her plan to break the Brexit impasse, the European council president, Donald Tusk, signalled EU politicians’ lack of faith in her cross-party talks.

Against a backdrop of growing support among the EU27 for a lengthy Brexit delay, Tusk picked apart May’s appeal for a shorter delay to 30 June in a letter to the leaders inviting them to Wednesday’s summit, where they will agree the new end date.

An EU diplomat said on Tuesday, following a late-night meeting of ambassadors, that the two end dates crystallising in EU capitals were the end of December or the end of March 2020.

I see that EU proposing this long "Flexit delay" and they demand RESTRICTIONS ... in effect they want UK MEPs "gelded"... unable to vote against the Euro-project plans to expand their powers (EU army etc) :roll

Quote:
A draft summit communique, obtained by the Guardian, and to be agreed by the EU27’s leaders on Wednesday, assumes in return for an extension a “commitment by the United Kingdom to act in a constructive and responsible manner throughout this unique period in accordance with the duty of sincere cooperation”.

It goes on to say the EU “expects the United Kingdom to fulfil this treaty obligation in a manner that reflects its situation as a withdrawing member state”, while the length of the extension is left blank.

“To this effect, the United Kingdom shall facilitate the achievement of the union’s tasks and refrain from any measure which could jeopardise the attainment of the union’s objectives,” it adds in reference to the EU’s long-term plans, senior appointments and budget decisions. It adds that the UK will leave on 1 June unless it has held European elections between 23-26 May.

The threat made by the Conservative MP Jacob Rees-Mogg to disrupt the union from inside in the event of a long extension to Britain’s membership was raised in the meeting of ministers, according to a leaked cable.

Barnier told the group: “We will not tolerate this”.

I see the great unwashed ... are OK with a long extension (Tuske's Offer)

They do not even see that it includes EU imposing restrictions on UK MEPs... which should enrage people... in effect they become "2nd class" MEPs just puppets of the EU. :doh

This "deal" should be rejected out of hand... for that reason alone.

The EU simply CAN NOT impose special restrictions just on UK ... that is ridiculous. UK MEPs have not even been selected, let alone voted on. The whole point of representatives is to speak for the UK people in their district... not subject to control by EU bureaucrats, nor even control by UK PM, Government or even the Commons Parliament

UNELECTED European Bureaucrats telling UK ELECTED representatives how they must vote? :wall

The politicians handling of Brexit is the biggest balls-up since Dunkirk!!

European arrogance and betrayal makes me think that D-Day and the liberation of Europe was a BIG MISTAKE! :doh

Apparently.... Theresa the Beggar...
Merkel did not bother to great May when she visited Berlin
Macron did not bother with displaying the Union Jack when he met her
In Brussels.... May gets sent out of the room to dine alone while the 27 leaders have a slap-up "working dinner" and decide UK's fate. May then gets summoned back to be told their decision (the UK's fate as decided by EU)
