The Trayvon Martin Case, Update 4: Geography and Narrative Analysis 25 Wednesday Apr 2012 Posted by Mike McDaniel I’ll begin this article with a map of the area where events occurred, and explain the issues relating to self defense, including how the police tend to view it. I’ll refer back to the map as the article progresses. The Martin Case Map: I’ve complied the map at the top of the article using Google Earth as its foundation, and by piecing together information available to the public from a variety of sources. It is certainly not drawn to scale (nor is the map that follows), and I do not for a moment represent that it is correct and to-the-meter accurate in every detail. Given what I know from what is available to me, I believe that what I’ve represented is reasonably accurate, and it is presented not as unerring evidence, but merely to assist readers with a visual representation of the terrain and circumstances facing George Zimmerman on the night of February 26, 2012. Keep in mind the 911 phone call Zimmerman made lasted only seven seconds longer than four minutes. This transcript appears to be among the most accurate I’ve found. Also keep in mind that the mailboxes mentioned in the transcript are about a quarter block to the west of Zimmerman’s parked vehicle. GZ and the dispatcher say goodbye and hang up 4:04 seconds later, at 7:13:38 (the last few seconds of recording are dead time after parties hang up, so I have excluded them.) 7:11:28: Time Trayvon starts running towards the back entrance according to GZ's call. It occurs 2:08 into the call, which starts at 7:09:24. Presumably, he is headed to the home of Ms. Green, his father's fiance. 7:13:38: The time GZ's call ends (4:04 seconds after it starts) 7:16:11: First 911 call comes in. Calculated from: The shot is heard in the first two 911 calls at 7:16:56. It occurs 45 seconds into first 911 call, which means that call came in at 7:16:11.
