Oh, you had to bring her up, mbtb. I was thinking about just leaving this where I found it: Trayvon Martin's mom to students: You are special

At least this was at an alternative school, basically at risk kids, so I'd like to give them credit for that much, but their messaging seemed to reinforce some of the racist-victim memes, imo.

What a shame she didn't spend that kind of time with TM™ - he may be alive today. Of course, TM™ wasn't paying her to speak to him; maybe he would have if she had named her price back then.

I haven't seen Bao actually quoted as saying that, maybe he did, and maybe the Trayborg™ made it up, as they so often do. :)

I thought Grand Old Parody was the one that started that rumor. They are very tongue-and-cheek!

Thanks so much, DebFrmHell! Trayborg™ have been tweeting it incessantly. :Gslap

I didn't click on any of their links. I don't like to encourage that kind of hate.

I don't have a link, didn't find one up yet, but according to Yancy Faith, normally a fairly reliable Twitter user, News13 had a story on their live broadcast about the secret service may get involved in the GZ/SZ issue. Maybe trying to get the video off of the ipad? Dunno, didn't see it.

Not since Homeland Security came about. But the point I make is that it is administered by a Cabinet member that answers to directives coming from the man who adopted Trayvon to be his son! There is no possibility the Secret Service is involved without Barry's approval.

ZIMMERMAN VERDICT PART 20: …AND INTO THE FUTURE

Today is two months exactly since the day of the Zimmerman verdict, which I started blogging on that same day. Two months, and twenty entries, are nice round numbers to end upon. That’s right at twice as long as the trial took, including the week of jury selection. The strangeness continues, ...

Backwoods Home Magazine.

I've gotten waaaay behind on Massad Ayoob's blogs on this case. The last one I posted at RT, iirc, was #12, so to get caught up from there, start here and scroll down to see all of the entries you missed.

I'm not going to link and quote every installment, but some parts are just too good to not post:

ZIMMERMAN VERDICT PART 18: AFTERSHOCKS

...

Trayvon Martin’s family has suffered the loss of a seventeen-year-old, his life wasted twice over. He threw it away himself on that February night – dealing drugs, planning beatings, and negotiating to illegally buy guns according to his own digital records, his liver ravaged already at seventeen by his drug abuse according to the autopsy – when he suffered a sudden, acute, and fatal failure of his victim selection process.

...

The second waste of his life is being witnessed now. His mom is on the talk circuit calling for an end to Stand Your Ground laws, which any honest and competent legal analyst could tell her had nothing to do with her son’s death. It would do much more good, and perhaps save the lives of young men across the spectrum of the color lines, to hear this woman speak of the importance of seeing what’s in your son’s cell phone and on his Facebook page before homicide investigators have to do it.

h/t Massad Ayoob, linked above.

How did we miss this? The Armed Citizens Legal Defense Network, Inc. has a lengthy analysis of GZ's persecution and acquittal:

The Unmeritorious Prosecution of George Zimmerman by Marty Hayes, J.D.

Later parts are by others. Looks like a good read. Not book length, but more than ten .pdf pages total, so get comfy before you start it. :)

George Zimmerman’s brother demands recusal in domestic incident probe

George Zimmerman’s brother called for Lake Mary police chief Steve Bracknell to recuse himself from an investigation into a domestic disturbance involving the infamous neighborhood watchman after Bracknell agreed Zimmernan could trigger a Sandy Hook-like incident.

“Even a so-called private email to a resident could be viewed as an endorsement of violence toward George or his family,” said Robert Zimmerman Jr., George Zimmerman’s older brother, to The Daily Caller News Foundation.

Yay! Makes sense to me. :)

I swear, this just disgusts me. It's so reprehensible and such an abuse of authority. I sincerely hope each and every person who advocates for persecution gets to experience it personally. And I'm certain they will, to one degree or another. One cannot throw all of that hatred into the ether and expect to remain immune.

I'd like to see one, just one, domestic violence case, other than GZ/SZ, wherein there were no injuries; wherein all parties declined to press charges; but LE not only persisted, but sent evidence to the secret service to be examined.

What a waste of taxpayer funds, and time we pay for.

Channel 9 reporter, Kathi Belich, agreed that the Zimmerman trial was an example of poor judgment by the media, encouraged by lazy employees of the Sanford police department.

Emphasis added to the quote from Rene. Wow. I hope she was misquoted. :Gslap I wonder what she thought was a "false perception"?
