Zimmerman jury begins sequestration day before opening statements

SANFORD, Fla. — Jurors in the George Zimmerman trial are expected to begin their sequestration at an undisclosed location on Sunday, less than 24 hours before the start of opening statements.

The jurors are required to report to a hotel to the begin the sequester. Court officials have been mum on the details, but the jury will likely have limited access to cable TV, newspapers and the internet. Additionally, in-person or phone contact with family members will be strictly monitored.

The six jurors and four alternates will be taken to the Seminole County Courthouse Monday morning before opening statements begin at 9 a.m.

The jury will be sequestered for the entire duration of the trial, including on weekends. Attorneys have predicted that the trial will last between two and four weeks.

This is ridiculous. I don't remember any mass rioting after the OJ Simpson verdict.

Man, they really have to reach to try to excuse bad behavior and act like rioting is a normal response when you get a verdict you don't like. Maybe they would have more success if they would quit floating the lies and take the time to actually understand the elements of the charges.

Could these be the emails long gossiped about that George supposidly sent to someone on the state side? I can't seem to recall who it was rumored that he contacted.

Can they still be filing discovery at this late date?

As we have all seen... Bernie's "style" is to mostly ask leading questions of any witness he questions. He was even doing it during Jury selection... and so often FAILED to do what he set out to do.. find info about unknown people.

I am at a loss to imagine WHO he might call as State witnesses.. I imagine the more dubious of the RATL residents?

He will no doubt "lead" them into parroting his own view of what testimony he wants.

I think he will tend to be a smart-ass... do some direct questioning, but save his "King Hit" questions for "redirect" after MOM (West) have done cross-examination.

If I were MOM... I would stuff Bernie's "cunning plan" by simply NOT bothering to cross examine most witnesses.
Unlikely to be any huge BOMBSHELL in Bernie's direct questioning... so just let it go... then no chance for Bernie to redirect.
Even when the penny drops.. I am sure Bernie will be completely put of his game if he sees the need to actually get to some sort of point in his initial questions.

I would think a proper judge would not allow this stuff into evidence because of that. It MUST have been available long, long ago. No excuse, and besides... Mantai is a revolting weasel.

Prosecution wants two books from George Zimmerman

SANFORD, Fla. -
Prosecutors requested two books and some e-mails from George Zimmerman Saturday.

Zimmerman is being accused of murdering Trayvon Martin, Feb. 26, 2012. The former crime watch captain volunteer claims he killed him in self-defense.

Prosecutors have to prove motive. They have records of Zimmerman's curriculum and grades while he was a criminal justice student at Seminole State College of Florida . He did not graduate.

These are the books prosecutors want:

-- Criminal Law and Procedures for the Paralegal: A Systems Approach, 3rd Edition Delmar Learning

-- Criminal Justice in Action, 4th Edition (Gaines & Miller).

Opening statements in the second-degree murder case will begin 9 a.m., Monday. Defense attorney Don West will present first.

Bernie signed the discovery the 21st, day before depositions. My guess is the books are something his professor was to have used in a class?

George, the master at criminal law, knowing just what to say and when to say it ...according to Bernie?

WOW that George, he's so smart...he took all his knowledge from his criminal justice courses and framed his self defense scenario from that knowledge. Oh, but wait, did he forget about never giving statements without an attorney? GMAB...

Emails and a textbook and a recently mentioned witness who was one of his "wannabe cop" instructors.

Maybe they're going to try very hard to prove that Zimmerman, contrary to what he said about being unfamiliar with the SYG law (which has no bearing on this case), had been exposed to some mention of it.

I'm not sure how smart a political move it is to go after SYG in Fla, because the only way I see for the state to make Zimmerman look bad with it is the "SYG is just a license to hunt and kill minorities" meme.
