Obama has spoken...

And in the wake of the verdict, I know those passions may be running even higher. But we are a nation of laws, and a jury has spoken.”
“I now ask every American to respect the call for calm reflection from two parents who lost their young son. And as we do, we should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to widen the circle of compassion and understanding in our own communities,” Obama added. “ We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this. As citizens, that’s a job for all of us. That’s the way to honor Trayvon Martin."

I'm glad our president came out and asked for calm. I wish he hadn't gone any further than that. And that's all I'm gonna say about that right now. I am in too good of a mood to even let that upset me. Please don't misunderstand -- I'm glad you brought the info. I'm just not gonna let it bug me. :)

PS - Hey, flgirl543 - it really, really happened. GZ was acquitted!! :26

Hi, auscitizenmom! :28

Glad to see you here! And, of course, following the directive. ;)

Seriously, though, there is at least one civil suit, and there will hopefully be many, many more. GZ and his family are subject to even more death threats, I suspect, plus the "rallies" and already there has been rioting. So this particular ride is far from over.

In the short time that I've been here at RT, I've become very fond of many, many members. And some members I don't know, or don't know as well yet. ;) I truly hope I'll be able to keep cyber seeing all of you, and in more places than the GZ threads. I know we've all been spending as much time as we could following this case, but there are a lot of other very interesting topics/threads here at RT that I plan to be spending more time in as things slow down in the GZ case. We don't have a single "klinker" in the entire RT bunch that I've run across. It's a unique thing to have such a concentration of smart, fun, and entertaining posters in one place. If you've been around the web at all, you know there is always at least one idiot at every site -- but not here. Oh... wait... if there is always one... and I haven't seen one... rut roh... Well, thanks to all for putting up with me, then! :)

And don't forget the blog thread! I am so hoping members will take some time to share their thoughts on various topics. Pretty please?

Actually it doesn't sound like Obama wants to follow the race baiter crowd and seek a civil rights case against GZ. :91

As for the rest typical Obama/progressive drivel

Speaking of progressive drivel, I sure am having fun calling all the progressives in Anandtech "Butthurt babies". It's eating them alive that GZ was acquitted, will still be able to own and carry a gun concealed. :lol

Let's hope you're correct about that. I didn't read the entire speech/comment, whatever, just what flgirl543 posted here. I hope you're collecting the best of the butthurt for the daft thread!

Also, don't forget the THE DANGER ZONE - Topics that end in tears has a place for politics, if you'd like to have a deeper political discussion. Of course, Rumpole put up a warning that should be taken into consideration:

    ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK
In my experience discussion resolves nothing with these topics.

Neither side convinces the other of anything and it gets PERSONAL

If you're interested though, you could give it a try. I'm confident that RT members have enough respect for each other and for RT to simply leave a thread rather than fight about something. They can always start a separate thread for others of like mind to discuss an issue from another point of view if they don't like a particular thread.

What Obama failed to mention is that the 'tragedy' of Trayvon Martin's death is the continuing failure of the black community to bring up so many of their children properly.

Hi, jayjerome! Did you listen to the RZjr interview with Piers? RZjr handled that aspect very well, imo. Maybe even motivated some people.

In this particular case the tragedy of a very young man's death (caused by his own actions) was extended to GZ and those who care about him. That's true even if none of us ever heard about this case and GZ had never been charged. He's not the kind of person that could easily blow off the incident, even knowing he had no choice if he wanted to live.

I wasn't able to follow right through to the end on this case, although I had opted for the 'not guilty' or perhaps 'hung' jury quite a while back.

See you on the other threads folks.

Thanks. Actually I have been lurking, mostly, for quite a while. I have a problem posting and only get about every 4th post on. I really like it here and will probably be around a lot more now. :83

You must have missed the directive on the previous page. ;) There is still a ways to go before the GZ case(s) are over. But yes, I'm looking forward to seeing you on the other threads here too. :)

I am upset to hear the Feds can charge GZ with a hate crime. They, along with the FBI, have been investigating for over a year and haven't found anything. They also investigated SPD. Now it's time for them to move on to Corey and her group, along with the Governor.

We have a verdict. It's over. Let them scream all they want. In a week or two the media will move on to something else and Trayvon will be all but forgotten. I have extreme heartburn pain today from HLN.

I wonder how the cretins are doing at JQ.

I hope you can get that straightened out. Have you tried the help threads here and here? That must be very frustrating having so much trouble posting.

I know what you mean about liking it here. I belong to other places but in total on all of them probably have less posts than one day at RT. :) It's just such a great group! (Plus, the smileys are awesome, thanks, Mal!)

Based on what Obama said I don't see any Federal charges against GZ.

I do believe any federal charges surrounding this incident would also violate GZ's 5th amendment rights.

http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictiona ... e+jeopardy

Quote:
The Fifth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides, "No person shall … be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb." This provision, known as the Double Jeopardy Clause, prohibits state and federal governments from prosecuting individuals for the same crime on more than one occasion, or imposing more than one punishment for a single offense. Each of the 50 states offers similar protection through its own constitution, statutes, and Common Law.

:lol Very True.

I see a lot of posting about Gloating/not gloating.

I did think to quote each and every post as a looooong list of quote boxes... as a tribute to LiveLaughLove :lol

But I don't really want RT to look like the JQ sewer.

I make NO APOLOGIES for gloating

It is not as if the morons at Traybot sites have stopped being willfully ignorant and delusion.... they are still all at it.

As far as the case itself goes... I am overwhelmingly pleased for George, and all associated with him... I wish him peace and eventually some sort of compensation (large financial) for the malicious way he has been abused...

GEORGE ALWAYS WAS THE VICTIM HERE

However, as far as the Traybot sites like JQ and CW and the Bigboi twitter sewer goes....

It's...." GLOAT TIME"
:lol
