I had mixed feelings about a TV interview...

With time to think it over... I think it was a mistake.

One reason for it was perhaps to solicit donations?

My guess is that it was GZ's idea, and not O'Mara's? I which case O'Mara needs to consider quitting if he can't control his client?

As a one-off thing it is not the end of the world, but I do not see it helping GZ.

I assume the video and perhaps "out-takes" will be available to the prosecution?

In general, the commentators on In Session thought his giving that Interview was a bad idea. But I think there's probably a general consensus that a defendant should keep quiet before his trial.

I agree there are pros and cons to giving an interview. One pro is that it can influence potential jurors by giving George a chance to tell 'his side' without cross-examination. One con is that he can't very well 'take back' anything he says and the prosecution is watching closely. I think the "God's plan" comment could come back to bite him unless he takes the stand and explains what he meant by that. No one else can do that for him.

Central Florida criminal defense lawyers say it was a mistake for George Zimmerman to go on national television last night and do an hour-long interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity, discussing what happened the night he killed Trayvon Martin.

"I think George Zimmerman needs to stop talking," said David Faulkner, a former FBI agent and Winter Park criminal defense attorney.

Special Prosecutor Angela Corey during the noon-hour filed formal notice that she intends to add the interview to the state's case.

Zimmerman deviated at least twice from his previous versions of what happened the night he shot Trayvon. He told Hannity he walked in Trayvon's direction because he needed to find a house number to help police find him, but in recorded interviews with Sanford police, he said it was because he had forgotten the street's name, something detectives challenged him on.

Also, Zimmerman told Hannity that Trayvon "skipped" away from him and did not run in fear after they first spotted each other a minute or two before their fatal face-to-face confrontation.

Didn’t see enough of George Zimmerman on Wednesday’s “Hannity”?

The Fox News Channel program has about an hour’s worth of material and will offer more on Friday’s program, a channel spokeswoman said. Viewers would have seen roughly two-thirds of the interview on Wednesday’s program. Sean Hannity landed the first interview with Zimmerman, who is charged with second-degree murder in Trayvon Martin’s fatal shooting.

“Hannity” airs at 9 weeknights. The host has a live interview tonight with Jose Baez, who defended Casey Anthony. The program also offers an interview with Daryl Parks, an attorney for Martin’s family. Parks will respond to Zimmerman’s comments.

Hannity airs at 7pm Colorado time and even earlier California time, for those who don't want to miss it.

Boy, if that interview I saw was 2/3's of the interview then the one shown tonight should last about 5 minutes.... I know I know....they'll just fill in the rest of the 'hour' with other stuff related to the case.

VERY interesting...

O'Mara says that the Judge has to consider only the "Recusal Motion" set before him... the facts within that and not the wider case issues as such

Despite the fact that the prosecution has filed a response....

O'Mara believes that they DO NOT have the right to do that, or at least the Judge should not even consider their response.

I do hope Lester recuses himself, we get a SYG hearing and this case is dismissed........soon!

Which is STILL very silly despite being repeated over and over.

Is that really what the Prosecution is going to present?

It seems to me that the mob currently engaged in nit-picking the details of GZ's version of events are totally missing the point. Debating exact distances to GZ's truck or TM's body etc is ultimately not critically important.

They have convinced themselves that GZ is a "total liar" (whatever that is), obese, abusing prescription drugs, abusing alcohol, he has mental problems, he is a "sociopath" (lol they love that one in every case) etc etc etc.
(As an aside: Personally I hope GZ considers some libel suits against the owners and posters at some Forums).

But, for the sake of the argument, even if you dismiss GZ's version.... what version is there?

As I keep saying, it is not sufficient to propose what MIGHT have happened..... the State needs to PROVE what happened beyond reasonable doubt. For that they need evidence, and so far have released NONE other than Dee Dee's statement. That is WEAK to say the least, and has not yet been subject to much scrutiny. The nit-pickers will no doubt give Dee Dee a pass, but they could have a field day I am sure once Dee Dee is cross examined. Besides.... even Dee Dee's evidence SUPPORTS the general scenario that TM went back to confront GZ.

He had to do the interview after the cousin's molestation allegations because public perception, of people who haven't seen much of him,' was that he was a sleazy child molester monster. I think he accomplished that he isn.t.

There's no denying that the judge is biased against him. It's public record.

I understand the reasoning... I am not totally against him doing it to "rehabilitate" his image.. but it is risky.

He did OK (IMO) but it's the old...
"anything you say will be taken down in writing (and thrashed to death by the mob), and may be used against you in court"

I STILL can not see how this case can get to a trial... charges should be dismissed.

To those people who don't follow the case like we do I think GZ's interview was for the most part positive. He really had no choice after the cousin accused him of being a pervert.

The prosecutor, however, will try and use some of his statements against him.

IMO this is not a Murder 2 case. I do think he's guilty of manslaughter.

TM clearly attacked GZ.

In HINDSIGHT he may have then had options (that is debatable), but the way GZ describes it.. it was Self Defence.
