George Zimmerman's wife files for divorce
By Rene Stutzman and Jeff Weiner, Orlando Sentinel
6:53 p.m. EDT, September 5, 2013

George Zimmerman's wife filed for divorce Thursday evening, her lawyer confirmed, less than two months after the former Neighborhood Watch volunteer was acquitted of murder in the shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.

Shellie Zimmerman, 26, was not available for comment, but her attorney confirmed their marriage was over.

"After much soul searching and recent disappointments, Shellie feels compelled to officially end her six-year marriage to George Michael Zimmerman," said attorney Kelly Sims.

He gave no details of their breakup but provided a copy of the paperwork and Shellie Zimmerman's financial affidavit. It reveals that she's deeply in debt, owing creditors more than $90,000.

The couple separated Aug. 13, according to her divorce filing, and Shellie Zimmerman wants a judge to award her custody of both dogs, Oso, 2-year-old, 120-pound Rottweiler and Leroy, an 8-year-old mixed breed.

"The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken," the pleading says.

Shellie Zimmerman is asking for an "equitable distribution" of their assets, property and debts.

She has no income but $12,729 in assets – mostly her 2009 Honda Accord – and $103,756 in debts – mostly school loans, an auto loan and credit card bills.

Since they split, he has given her $4,300 from his legal defense fund, according to the affidavit.

She also asks that George Zimmerman be required to provide her with life insurance.

It sounds to me like it may be good for both to call it quits?

As I have said before.....

I would THINK that Georges credit is excellent, though his current "cash flow" is poor. There will be payments from State of Florida covering legal expenses.... and perhaps penalties over sanctions. I think it is certain that GZ will get a settlement from ABC, and the world is his oyster as far as more suits for slander and libel.

I'm sad, too. I guess I'll assume there was trouble in the marriage before 2.26.12, because I think if there wasn't, GZ and SZ would be making more of an effort to work things out together.

The pain they are enduring, and their families are enduring, must feel unending. :(

Prayers for both Shellie and George. This was not taken lightly I am sure. There were problems before the night of the shooting. They both have been through Hell thanks to the Scheme Team.

(snip) Shellie Zimmerman's lawyer today announced she has filed for divorce.

John Donnelly, a family friend who testified in George Zimmerman's defense at his trial, told Reuters that Shellie was "devastated" when her husband "just packed up and left" after his acquittal and was gone for a month without telling anyone his whereabouts. Shellie had lost touch with him and had grown increasingly upset.

This is sad all around - I can imagine that George felt he needed to be away after the trial - all the death threats - and by family members not knowing where he was kept them safer, too.....BUT.....I can understand "why" Shellie would be so devastated and was a "final straw" for her.

Maybe you can't, and we who also use logic and facts in our reasoning can't, but Trayborg™ do it every day! :Gslap

I agree about keeping the daft in the daft thread but as we know, they do read this thread. (Side note to Trayborg™ - :neener ) They should be worried about their own karma, and all of the evil they are personally putting out into the world, rather than GZ's. That way, when their karma lands with a heavy thud into their lives... well, they won't figure it out on their own, so let's just think of this as pre-connecting the dots. :D

It is hard to say how rocky it was or wasn't, but something like this sure wouldn't help.

The best part is when the Traytards say "see look at your hero" Somehow they miss the point that George isn't our hero, the constitution is our hero and we were protecting it. I guess because they gave Trayvon hero status they assume that we did the same with George. I feel sorry for both of them that they had to go through what they went through and that is the extent of it.

*applause* Well said, mung. :)

Some of us don't even find GZ likable. But that doesn't mean he shouldn't have the same rights as everyone else under our constitution. That doesn't make persecuting an innocent man ok. And that certainly doesn't make it ok to inflame racial animus, directly helping to cause several assaults and even murders of innocent people based on racial hatred, with some vicious perpetrators specifically justifying their violence as "Justice for TM™!"

I know which of the two I'd very much prefer to have in my neighborhood, which one by all accounts was a decent, law-abiding, citizen who did many positive things in his community. I know which one in general spent much of his time helping others without receiving anything in return. I know which one mentored at risk kids, which one spent his own money and time to get justice for a black homeless man who had been assaulted by the white son of a police officer. (That had to make him very popular around the police station, considering all of the disciplinary actions taken because of GZ.)

I also know which one was again suspended from school, had a history of fighting, had a history of misogyny, was a racist and homophobe, etc.; and who incredibly also had no good deeds reported, despite a fawning media and a fan club deifying him.

And despite their protestations, irl the Trayborg™ agree. Online, hiding behind their computers, they try to make others believe their views and beliefs are just about the opposite of how they live their lives offline. They're not out there taking in troubled teens of any color - to the contrary, they avoid them. They're not stopping to ask if someone dressed like a thug, wandering around in the rain, peering into houses, is lost; they're locking their doors and hoping the thug leaves them alone.

It's not what you type in hidden threads on a computer that matters - it's what you do in the real world that counts. Trayborg™ talk a lot of delusional, racist (at least through low expectations), talk; but GZ was out there walking the walk, making a real difference in real lives in the real world.

I think I saw this coming. When he was found not guilty, I noticed he didn't even look at Shellie who was standing in the courtroom. No hugs over the not guilty verdict. I think he was through with her and planned on taking off at that time.

I have respect for her asking for the dogs. They will be better off with her. "Leroy" LOL That's a cute name.

I hope she will get her share of any law suits he wins.

It sounds like Shellie is very hurt...and with George leaving like that....well, I think they both could use therapy to get them through this. What all they've gone through is devastating to anyone...and they're so young, too.

Hiya, mbtb, Sha, and Puzzler! :)

If what we know about how GZ has lived his life is any indication, he'll be fair in dividing their assets and contingent assets. They both suffered and she stuck by him through his worst days. What I mean is that I don't think he'll fight giving her anything, as some do upon a marriage ending. It's possible that being human, like so many others past and present he'll be hurt and will vindictively fight every little thing. Just because. But it doesn't seem to be his general pattern, and he'll hopefully choose a good attorney to help guide him.

MOM may even be a good dissolution attorney for GZ, someone looking for fair solutions, rather than extended fighting just to fight. Some cases end up with the parties spending more in fees than the value of the items over which they're fighting. That's bad lawyering, at best someone unable to control their client. And some let their client run the case, so as to run up the bills. Unfortunately, he'd likely be conflicted out, if he'd even consider taking the case.

I'm with Chip on this one - I blame TM™ and the Trayborg™ for this. Many couples much older, together much longer, with or without children, and with much more resources, have been helpless to prevent their marriage from breaking under much less stress than those two have endured.

I strongly agree, Puzzler - I hope both are able to get therapy to help them through this.

Bottom line - we don't know what's been going on; I'm not going to take a side in this, at least not without knowing a lot more. As a rule, people get a little crazy when ending a marriage. What plays out in public over the next weeks/months may have nothing to do with why they split. Again, I blame that on TM™, Trayborg™ and the scheme team. I hope the loss of his marriage adds a lot to the damages GZ can claim in his civil suit(s).

I hope she realizes that the death threats won't stop. I guess she figures that maybe if she has a different name she can slip away from the scum that is stalking them. The Traytards will wrongly, maliciously, and with evil in their bitter hearts cheer this as a victory of their malignant hate over all that's decent and moral and I hope they rot in hell for their part in destroying these people's lives.

I have to wonder if that didn't figure into her decision to give up - hoping that the Trayborg™ would leave her alone; tired of living in fear and hoping this would stop it.

BBM, FTFY, and strongly agreed even without the edit. Well, except I hope the karma they've been throwing out there hits them hard long before they make it back to the burning hell from which they were spawned.

Marriage is difficult enough for anyone, but it must have been doubly difficult for the Zimmermans during the horrific persecution of George and his entire family (as well as friends or casual acquaintances) by the main stream media and those who are pulling the media's strings.

This is the first time I've heard about George leaving without letting Shellie know his whereabouts. That does not sound like George (from what I've known of his character all along). I don't know if it's true. And I also do not know any specifics about their marriage. It seems they did have problems before the shooting, but then again, what marriage has not had at least one argument? I cannot bring myself to judge either one of them since I know no details of their problems. I just hope the dogs go to the person who will properly care for them.

I only pray that they come out of this unscathed.

Asking Robert Zimmerman: Is George really a free man post-Trayvon?
Thursday, September 5, 2013 - The Conscience of a Realist by Joseph Cotto

Image

OCALA, Fla., September 5, 2013 — Technically, George Zimmerman walks the streets today a free man. Technically, the multiracial central Florida neighborhood watch captain was acquitted of any wrongdoing in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager. Technically, Zimmerman’s life is his to live without obstacle.

“Technically is a very precise word,” his older brother and de facto public spokesman, Robert, says. “George has endured an altered reality as many of us have for some time now. I don’t foresee George or anyone else living in the normal of the past.

“George has been in the news for fairly normal non-events and that is certainly not a normal reality for most people. George has more reason to be armed and concerned for his security now that he moves about. Before, the isolation insulated him somewhat from being exposed to people who might express hostility, or worse.”

It has been nearly two months since George’s highly controversial and internationally publicized trial ended. Has he been trying to put the Martin shooting’s aftermath behind him, or is he still trying to make sense of what happened?

“The way I see it, there are areas he will be able to slowly move beyond,” Robert opines. “The NBC lawsuit, judicial inquiry into the State Attorney’s office violations of discovery, having meaningful interaction with family and friends are examples of elements that will lend a semblance of normalcy.

“I am certain, in my heart of hearts, he will never be able to move beyond the reality of having taken a life - albeit lawfully & in self-defense - and he will carry that burden for the rest of his life.”

The dogs need to be with Shellie. She will give them excellent care. This decision was not made lightly. They did seek counseling. Shellie is making the right decision for her. She stood by George as long as she could.

CNN Continues to Lie About Zimmerman/Martin Case
By Andrew Branca
September 5th, 2013

Hey Folks,

While gathering some reference materials on the Zimmerman case I happened to come across a piece by CNN entitled “Trayvon Martin Shooting Fast Facts” (I’m not giving them a link, Google it if you want to see the actual piece). It should instead have been entitled “Playing Fast and Loose with the Facts”. In this piece, which is indicated as having been updated only days ago–August 29, 2013, 10:36PM EDT–CNN writes the following:

Quote:
Timeline: February 26, 2012 – George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain in Sanford, Florida, calls 911 to report “a suspicious person” in the neighborhood. He is instructed not to get out of his SUV or approach the person. Zimmerman disregards the instructions. Moments later, neighbors report hearing gunfire. Zimmerman acknowledges that he shot Martin, claiming it was in self-defense. In a police report, Officer Timothy Smith writes that Zimmerman was bleeding from the nose and back of the head. (emphasis added)

Anyone who has followed the case knows that, in fact, Zimmerman was never instructed not to get out of his vehicle, and so of course could not have disregarded such an instruction. It is also known that when asked by the dispatcher if he was following Martin–in direct response to the dispatcher asking for information about Martin’s direction of flight–Zimmerman acknowledge that he was, to which the dispatcher said, “We don’t need you to do that.” This can hardly be be termed an “instruction”, and in any case the dispatcher testified in court that he would not give commands remotely to a person on the scene. In any case, Zimmerman immediately assented to the suggestion.

My comment about this article:

I used to be addicted to HLN/CNN. I had it on 24/7 and listened to it as background noise. I don't know if they've always been biased, or if I just found out about it in past few months, but they are so obviously biased I refuse to watch it at all any more.
