Yes, alternates dismissed when they went back to deliberate.

That was astonishing...what happens if one of the seated jurors has a medical emergancy? No alternates!!!

Counsel for both the State and Defense agreed to accept a verdict from a jury of 5, or a mistrial, should a juror have to be dismissed.

I wouldn't want to be anywhere near Miami this week. You're a brave, brave soul...

Many joked about aquick decision, but there are a few things to do just to get started. They have to choose a foreman. They each have 27 pages of instructions all 6 have to at least agree they understand. They have new evidence if there is any questions. They know for a fact that the prosecution lied to them, so who do you think they trust in the way of attorneys?

Yes! This! ^^^

But I'm still hoping they just went back to pack their things, come in fresh and clean to render verdict in the morning. :)

With the jury adjourning deliberations for the evening, and a lack of desire to speculate about the unknowable, I think this is where I bid everyone a good evening. :)

Will the DCA overturn it that quickly? I would like to think so...going to be difficult to sleep tonight with my anxiety.

GZ would probably remain on bond until sentencing, if the jurors are going to ignore the evidence and lie to themselves about what happened, like the state did. That would likely be a few weeks, maybe even six weeks down the road, while reports are filed, etc.

Meanwhile, yes, pleadings would be filed in the appellate court and a motion to leave GZ free on bond pending appeal would be filed in the trial court. If Nelson denies it, the defense would file for a cert writ and/or an appeal, an maybe even habeas corpus if they're feeling frisky. Once the trial is over, the DCA can start overturning Nelson left and right and can reverse or quash any order denying GZ leave pending appeal based on the danger he faces and the likelihood of his various pleadings with the DCA being successful.

There are two things holding up GZ's freedom, the way I see it: the jurors and the judge. Once the verdict is in, as described above, the DCA can start exercising jurisdiction.

Nite Chip. :28

I can't see me getting up (not going to bed) to be here at 1:00AM for start of Court.

I may even MISS the actual moment.

I think I'll just keep this general discussion thread ONLY from now on.

JQ Refugee (ran outta BP meds)
Think I'm gonna run out of Valium soon now too.
This case blows my mind. It's about SO MUCH more than what's on the surface, which I know you all know.
Know the crunt Judge-she's from here and been against her when she was a prosecutor in Broward (or Broweird as we call it); unfortunately also know Miami Gardens Thugs too (defend lots of them).

Just wanted to see if I can post now.

Shalom and Thanks!

You sure about that?

In Arias case... there was talk of her going to prison after sentence, ahead of sentencing... I know in that case she was already in custody... but I would not be surprised if GZ was locked up pending sentence hearing.

If it ever came to that.

Crump on with Ryan Smith just now...the saving grace for me is when this is finally all over, I never have to see him again on my TV.

Saw a blip of Sybrinia chewing her gum rapidly in court...why do I find that so annoying?

There are a whole bunch of clips..... a long interview chopped into several 3 minute bits... did you miss the others?

I don't like this. To me this means they are not sure he is NOT GUILTY right from the start, which is bad. After all this non sense from the state, they don't already know? Lord help George.

It really concerns me too. Image I really hoped they would follow MOM's suggestion to start at a Not Guilty vote to see if they even needed to deliberate...

The whole Prosecution case proves reasonable doubt, so I don't know what's taking so long. :95
