I am sooooooo disappointed in Colin Powel.

To be fair he also said that Trayvon Martin would be forgotten. Compared it to a meteor in the night (paraphrasing) or some such. That part is true. Probably as soon as the 2014 elections are done.
Politicians are embracing SF/TM to further their agenda for SYG issues even though it was not an issue during the trial. The majority wants to keep them in place. It is laughably transparent.
The only part where they might throw a bone out is changing some of the wording for 776.041. Maybe a change in the definition of "aggressor" but even that is a stretch.
IMO, no one should lose the right to defend themselves when attacked. The right to protect one's self and their family has been inherent for eons... SYG further clarifies by removing the act of retreating.

Castle Doctrine ...derives from the historic English common law dictum that "an Englishman's home is his castle." This concept was established as English law by 17th century jurist Sir Edward Coke, in his The Institutes of the Laws of England, 1628.[3] The dictum was carried by colonists to the New World, who later removed "English" from the phrase, making it "a man's home is his castle", which thereby became simply the castle doctrine
