Nel: "You are a gun enthusiast, you come from a family with 50 or more. If you are gun enthusiasts then you would know the law...

"I don't understand why you have pleaded not guilty."

Pistorius can't remember when his father put the ammunition in the safe, it was some time ago. It was at the bottom of the safe. He says he believed it was legal for it to be kept there.

Pistorius says yes but Nel says that Mr Roux would not have done that.

Nel: "It's the third occasion where you have blamed your legal team."

He has invited Pistorius to change his plea over the illegal ammunition in his safe.

Pistorius confirms that he has not tried to contact his father about the ammunition.

Pistorius said that for weeks after he was released on bail he slept, didn't meet anyone and didn't socialise.

Pistorius says he believes he would have left the magazine in the bedside table on the day of the incident.

He admitted that this was illegal. Nel is pushing him to admit his guilt.

Pistorius said it was on a holster on his shorts before he went for a swim.

Nel says that if he was wearing shorts it must have been visible.

Pistorius says he can't remember if it was visible or not. He says he can't comment on it because he can't remember. He can't remember if he had a shirt on or not.

Nel is pushing Pistorius on where his firearm was while he was on the boat. He said he can't remember because it was two years ago.

Nel tells him "I don't know" is not an answer.

He says he can't make up a story about where his firearm would have been.

Nel: You know it's the strangest day, Mr Pistorius. You're just don't do anything wrong. You're incapable of saying you did anything wrong.

Pistorius agrees that in this case it could be negligible.

Pistorius said he carried his firearm with him wherever he went.

The alternative would be to leave it in the car. He put it in his towel and didn't want to leave it at the house when there was nobody there.

It was on the boat while he went for a swim with the others in the group.

Nel suggests that is negligent. Pistorius disagrees.

Nel has now moved on to the trip to Vaal and the firing of a gun through a sunroof.

They were going to a function with Darren Fresco and Samantha Taylor - it wasn't a specific occasion, Pistorius says. They were going for a get-together with friends.

Pistorius says he can't remember much about the day but they drove down and were met by other friends. A group of about 10 people.

They went out onto the water and did some wakeboarding before returning.

Pistorius confirms that he took the gun with him.

Pistorius said the police officer spoke to him in a "violent manner" and it made him agitated when he said "do you know what I can do with this gun?"

He ignored him and looked for the round.

Pistorius said that he would have understood if he had confiscated the gun.

Pistorius says he asked for the gun back and the officer asked him if he knew what he could do with the firearm.

He started looking for the round that had fallen down the side of the passenger seat.

Another officer came over and called for the other police officer to come back and help him look for the round.

Pistorius said he was agitated with the first police officer and the way he dealt with the situation because he dropped the magazine and a bullet.

So the gun was one-up, Nel points out. Pistorius says he wouldn't have changed the position of the firearm.

He denies that the sunroof incident ever happened. He says it's a fabrication.

He said that he corrected Barry Roux in the first break.

The judge steps in to tell Nel he has answered the question - Pistorius doesn't know why Roux put the question to Captain Mangena about the double-taps.

He said it wasn't double taps.

Nel: "Why would Mr Roux put it to Mr Mangena that you fired two double-taps?"

Pistorius says he is not sure why he asked that.

The laughter was when Pistorius said he couldn't remember who told him that Mr Fresco and Miss Taylor had communicated with one another they had given evidence.

He says he had been told after they gave evidence that they had communicated prior to the trial.

Pistorius said he didn't intend to shoot and is becoming emotional again as he says he is becoming confused by the different events that Nel is putting to him.

"It was an accident", he says forcefully as he starts crying.

And it is lunch time again. Return in one hour.

Nel says that we know there was no intruder, we know there was no ladder, we know Reeva was in there, we know there was no reason to shoot.

Pistorius agrees with all points.

"I thought the robbers were either in the toilet or they were on the ladder. My firearm was pointed at the toilet. My eyes were going between the window and the toilet door."

He fired because he heard a noise at the toilet door "I interpreted as someone coming out of the toilet"

Pistorius said the noise coming from the bathroom made him pull the trigger.

"I heard a noise coming from inside the toilet and I discharged the firearm."

Nel asks if he had waited a second to see if the door had opened he would not have fired.

"That's a possibility", he responds.

Nel asks him if he fired deliberately. "You're still with accidentally".

Pistorius: "I'm still with the fact that I fired the gun out of fear, that at the time I had interpreted it as somebody coming out of the bathroom.

"I didn't mean to pull the trigger."

Nel sticks with the last statement saying "you never meant to shoot at intruders coming out of the bathroom."

Pistorius said he remembered pulling the gun in quick succession. He didn't count.

In his statement he said "before I knew it I had fired four shots at the door."

He explained that it was because he was taking the facts into account.

He said that he can remember firing at the door. Nel says that this is different to what he said at the end of yesterday.

Nel says he told the court: "I remember firing four shots at the door... I remember pulling the trigger and the rounds going into the door."

Pistorius says he remembers firing at the door, that's where they went.

Pistorius: "I don't think so my lady."

Nel says he was on his iPad surfing the net. Pistorius confirms.

(A pathologist earlier said he believed that Reeva ate within two hours of her death)

He said that they had chicken stir fry and vegetables.

Nel says that neither of them had anything else to eat that night. Pistorius confirms.

Nel says that is roughly seven hours before she was killed.

Pistorius: "That's roughly eight hours".

Nel said he will ask questions and he should reply.

You arrived just after 6pm. What happened?

He says he chatted with Reeva, went downstairs and had dinner. Shortly after 7pm.

He asks Pistorius to say what he can remember, not what is reconstructed.

Pistorius says that "memories are reconstruction". He didn't remember the number of shots.

He says it will be difficult for him to remember now after reading various statements.

She went to the bathroom and called him to go through to brush his teeth.

Nel asks if he could see anything in his peripheral vision.

Pistorius replies saying he could barely see anything in the room.

He said that he was sure he saw the jeans on the floor.

He says he wouldn't have seen her get up because she would have been behind him.

He reminds Nel that he was on his stumps at this point and so he would have been very short

Nel says "in that time she must have got up." Oscar agrees.

Pistorius is becoming frustrated: "It was pitch black... I don't know when she got up."

Nel asks if it was difficult. Pistorius said that nothing bothered him.

Reeva didn't say anything after that and he didn't see her get up.

"I was busy getting the fans and closing the doors".

Nel says Reeva was a maximum of 2ft away - how did he not notice that she wasn't in bed.

He says he doesn't know how she got out of back. It was pitch black and she was behind him.

He says he remember talking to her but can't remember seeing her.

He woke up on his side of the bed.

Nel confirms he moved the fans, closed the doors, locked them and closed the curtains.

He said "no I can't". And there was no other conversation.

The lights were off but the outside balcony light was still on. The curtains were drawn closed around the fans and there was a little bit of light. You could make out the silhouette of the bed.

He says he didn't look at the bed.

He put his head down, rubbed his face and Reeva asked him if he couldn't sleep.

He walked around the bed, brought the fan in, closed the doors, locked the doors and closed the curtains.

He says he doesn't know if she was wide awake.

He said she asked: "Cant' you sleep baba?"

Pistorius says he doesn't know what woke him up - it was humid and hot.

He said that he was sat up in bed.

He agrees he didn't wake up in a cold sweat because he heard a noise.

He said they were googling pictures of cars and showing each other which top five cars they would have.

They were looking at things on her phone and his iPad together.

"It's the third time now I have said I was on my iPad."

The iPad was found on Reeva's side of the bed when it was found.

He lay on her stomach and he said when she falls asleep she should bring the fans inside.

Then he fell asleep.

Nel says she was never on his iPad that evening.

He got onto the bed where he was on his iPad and texting his cousin.

Reeva was watching TV and he was lying next to her and half looking at the pictures on her phone with her.

They were looking at pictures of homes. He was on his iPad finishing things off.

They were chatting.

Pistorius confirmed that he put the fans in place.

He said that the tripod fan had one foot on the balcony and the smaller one was between the legs of the tripod fan.

He left his prosthesis one on top of the other next to the bed.

Pistorius returned to the bedroom and Reeva was "lying on the bed. The TV was on and she had her phone with her. I climbed into bed."

He was on the same side of the bed as the bathroom. He said he wouldn't normally sleep on that side of the bed, but did so because of a shoulder injury.

"I could not place weight on my right shoulder."

He says Reeva was under the duvet when he got out.

Nel says it was on the floor but it is difficult for him to fit in with his version.

Nel said that photographer Van Staden found the bedding on the floor.

Pistorius says he doesn't know who put the bedding there.

He said that the duvet was not on the floor. Nel repeatedly asks him.

Nel says so all the police that went into the room lied that the bedding was on the floor.

Pistorius said that Botha told the court that the bedding was on the bed in Afrikaans.

He said he saw the denim when he was about to bring in the fans because of the balcony light.

He wanted to put them over the amplifier LED.

Nel says that if he did that then he would be facing the passage.

Pistorius is being asked what else is wrong with a picture of the scene apart from the duvet.

He said the fan couldn't possibly have been there because it would have been in his way when he called for help.

Nel says "you see Mr Pistorius, your version is a lie. You never closed those curtains in the first instance, that's why you have to come up with things."

He says a policeman has to move the duvet and move the fan and the curtains.

Pistorius repeats that some of his watches were stolen from the scene.

Nel: "You saw the duvet on the bed when you got up and at the same time, you saw that her legs were covered by the duvet. Did you see the bed on the duvet again?"

He says he saw the duvet on the bed when he put his prosthetic legs back on after he killed Reeva.

Nel is getting louder as he says that while walking from the left hand side of the bed, round the bed towards the door it's impossible for him not to know."

Nel says she didn't get out of bed on the right hand side of the bed. "If she got out on the right hand side of the bed you would have seen her."

Pistorius says he doesn't know which side she got out of the bed. There is a small gap between the bed and the balcony if Pistorius was at the doors.

Nel says he is doubting - Pistorius earlier said his face was in his hands.

He said that Pistorius is adapting his version.
