Def says she wants 2 know if jurors wat CSI, what do they know and believe about

Evidence, testing, etc and so on

Def feels she needs 2 know more of what jurors know & believe in order 2 use peremptory strikes

Judge didnt buy that and said it was disingenious, she has what she needs in order to strike pros jurors

One of questions of pros jurors is if they have ever lived in Dearborn Heights.

Three jurors just excused, all struck by the Pros

Pros has just raised a Batson Motion, says that all of the Def peremptory challenges have been used on African Americans. Five of them.

Judge asks what is remedy? Pros says remedy is to bring one particular pros juror shld be brought back

Def says one of these pros jurors has been sleeping both days

Def says one juror has publicly commented on the case. Pros says more than one pros juror

Who is white also claims to have publicly commented and have not been struck

Def says her challenges have been race neutral. Judge said she had never seen juror in question sleeping

Specific remedy of bringing back one of the jurors not granted.

We are not supposed to identify jurors by name or take their fotos. I have hesitated to use other identifiers

However i will give a tally of who has been struck thus far

Court case, Batson v Kentucky, 1986. Paraphrasing: u cant just strike a prospective juror because of their race

Even tho both and the Pros and the Def have a certain number of "strikes" or "challenges"

Where they can "excuse" a prospective juror from service for no reason at all

Batson held that u cant just "kick jurors 2 the curb" simply because they are Black.

defense atty asking prosecutor what graphic photos they will show of a deceased renisha mcbride..pros will show ones of her lying in bushes

two new potential jurors called. they are being questioned now.

one of them says she needs a hardship exemption because she has a special needs daughter

defense attys and prosecutor going up now to talk to judge on who they'll excuse from wafer trial jury duty

defense asks that two jurors get excused, one is the roman catholic male who doesn't believe in killing and a white woman. 2 newjurorscalled

defense excludes woman, who is african american, who says she has hardship. prosecutor excludes woman, asian american

there are only 5 people left in the original 62 potential jury pool from monday to go and the final jury for wafer trial not decided yet.

but they can call in about 140 more cause the original pool set aside for this case is 200

Another juror excused,a white woman

A black female juror also dismissed . the two are replaced by Arab American male and black woman

The new female potential juror called says she has a hardship and has vision probs The woman who is black excused

Defense asks that juror whose dad is retired cop be excused. She's african American but she's not left courtroom cause of sidebar

The Def has now used 7 of its 9 peremptory challenges on African Americans

The Pros has 6 peremptory challenges and has used two on African Americans

Pros jurors have also been struck by the court/for cause

Of these 42 approx 3 will be chosen. The final total will be 12 jurors and 2 alternates, 14 total
