So you think he opened the door, saw who was there, and decided to shoot her in the face, pointed (aimed) the gun, pulled the trigger deliberately?

Anything other than that and it is an ACCIDENT... I think.. and an accident that would never have happened if he had been left asleep by the drunk. She could have at least chosen a house where the owner did not own a gun... huh? Her fault.

I'm more confused over the confusion of the door/screen LOL A full size screen on an aluminum door is not new. We've had ours for over 10 years. Spring comes, we take out the window and put in the screen. When late fall comes, we take out screen and put in window LOL BTW the full screen in the Spring and Summer months is wonderful!

Maybe it's a regional thing.

Not much use for screen doors down here anymore, since we've regressed to 3 seasons--Summer, Winter, and Pollen.

DEARBORN HEIGHTS — Hardly anything has been said by either side since Theodore Paul Wafter was charged with murder Nov. 15, but that should change a week from today.

Wafer, 54, is due in court next Wednesday for a preliminary examination of the evidence against him. He’s facing second-degree murder and manslaughter, as well as felony firearm charges, after the Nov. 2 death of Renisha McBride.

very interesting article, thanks rumpole! I didn't know it took awhile for charges to be brought. Wondering if they are overcharging like they did GZ?

Oh ok... glad it brought you "up to speed". :)

Yes there was a short delay.... as there should be so that there can be a preliminary investigation BEFORE laying charges. The hearing date of 18th December was announced at Wafers arraignment.

They say when it goes to trial we will see why he shouldn't be found guilty. We shall see.

I'd think getting woken up like that and with loud banging a person would be totally confused for a few. And since there is a practice of sending a female to a door to ask for help as a ruse to get her and others who may have been hiding into a house maybe he did feel fear for his safety.

Hearing is Wednesday... but not sure we will hear much evidence. It will most likely be a procedural thing... setting date of NEXT hearing.

I think this one has to go to trial, and with a jury anything can happen.

Court hearing Wednesday in Renisha McBride case
Man accused in shooting faces preliminary exam
Author: Matt Morawski, Local 4 News Today Executive Producer
Published On: Dec 18 2013 03:11:18 AM EST Updated On: Dec 18 2013 03:12:08 AM EST

DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. - The man accused of shooting a 19-year-old Detroit woman on his own front porch is expected to be in court Wednesday.

Theodore Wafer is charged in the murder of Renisha McBride. McBride was shot in the face early last month seeking help after her car broke down in Dearborn Heights.

Wafer told police he thought someone was breaking in and accidentally discharged his shotgun.

Prosecutors are expected to lay out evidence against Wafer to go to trial.

The preliminary exam is set for Wednesday at 9 a.m.

Well, see, here we go again with the biased MSM, Does anyone really know why she was at his house? One story is that she thought it was her house, or a friends, or whatever, and now she was seeking help. And no mention of being drunk, or that it was hours later. (It was hours later, right?) I get so confused! What happened to "Just the facts, Ma'am?"

So her car broke down all on its own?

Sorry, the solution to wanting to avoid having to type "allegedly" a lot is not making sh*t up.

Exactly! I am so waiting for this trial to see the actual evidence! But again, I still blame MSM!

I am yet to catch up, but..... "Cat Broke Down"... :lol

I suppose the tree jumped out in front of her car as it rolled slowly to a halt... and it was the tree that was speeding judging by the damage?

STARTING A SEPARATE THREAD FOR THIS HEARING

There is always "The Golden Thread that runs through the British (US) Justice System" (As my namesake "Rumpole of The Bailey" opines.

The presumption of innocence.... and the burden on the prosecution to prove guilt beyond all reasonable doubt.

By Gus Burns

DETROIT, MI --
After two days of testimony, Dearborn Heights District Court Judge David D. Turfe ruled that there is enough evidence for Theodore Wafer, 54, of Dearborn Heights to face trial for the killing of Renisha McBride.

He is charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony for the Nov. 2 killing.

So once again to satisfy the blood lust of the perpetually aggreived the court once again raised expectations in case where there is no way the M2 charge makes it past a jury

Seems like a waste of time and money at the least... and inflicts months of anguish on the defendant.

I guess they do have to try him for manslaughter.... but IMO he should be not guilty there too.

What happened to the Grand Jury System?

I am not sure if I understand correctly...what charge(s) is he facing now? Or have they not finalized the formal charge(s)?
