Press Freedom Tracker :slap

Article listing "12 Journalists" ..."facing criminal charges" so far in 2017
https://rtdna.org/article/twelve_and_counting

Reb Z is one... that tells you what a load of Horse shite this list is. :roll
(It was Z that tweeted the link... SELF PROMOTION)

I know a few names (and I assume they are ALL the same type).... :roll
six "journalists" facing "criminal charges" for covering the Dakota Access Pipeline "protests"
three "journalists" facing criminal charges for covering "civil unrest" in St. Louis
one "journalist" NY college campus beef?

Firstly .... THEY ARE NOT "Journalists"... They are Leftist (Communist) activists with a phone
Secondly.. they are not facing any formal CRIMINAL charges (as in Felony).. they have to appear before local Council type body.. and I doubt they will comply.. they will simply fail to appear.

The article then gets to the point... TWO of these Communist activists ARE facing charges...

Quote:
But the government has apparently decided to make an example of two journalists, each of whom is charged with several felonies.

At first, independent photojournalist Alexei Wood was charged with only one felony count of rioting. Three months later, a grand jury upped the ante by handing up eight separate felony indictments that could result in more than 70 years in prison: “inciting a riot,” “rioting,” “conspiracy to riot,” and five counts of “destruction of property.” Wood insists he was not participating in the rioting and was simply livestreaming the event in his role as a journalist.

Then there’s the case of independent journalist Aaron Cantú. He, too, was originally charged with only one felony. But the same grand jury that issued indictments that later charged Wood with eight felonies issued the same eight felony indictments against Cantú as well. He, too, insists he was merely performing his duty as a journalist, but he could face up to 75 years in prison.

REAL criminals.. should get REAL prison time....

The streamers who aspire to be criminals SHOULD be charged after all the misdemeanor warnings..
Except they are SO FUNNY :)

Very interesting info, Rumpole! Z seems to be relishing the attention he is getting. Never fails to retweet an article about him, several times. ;)

I like this Z tweet today. Oh the irony. :84

#STLCopsAttack and Fox 2 news airs its newsman (he's no journalist) laughing and insulting protesters.

_____________
ETA:

My sides hurt from laughing.

Heather all concerned about a table set up in a neighborhood with drinks -- no hate signs, no protests.

Turns out, it's a group of bicyclists who get together and ride every Sunday.

If I understand the point of this push to register voters.. and for them to get off their asses and vote...

Is that the protards think that they would have had "better" laws and implementation of laws IF ONLY their candidates were in power?

Ah... it seems to me that the cities with problems are already controlled by leftists.. so what are they gonna try now?

MORE left? Communists?

How would they change rules/laws to ensure cops shoot less dindus?
Less enforcement? Less confronting Heroin dealers and other Crims?
That seems to be what is happening naturally... "the Ferguson Effect" and it is making the situation WORSE... more balck on black crime.

That's progress for ya :roll

Thanks! A stroll down Tucker St. with signs and drums would be much more entertaining. ;)

I'm glad you are paying attention, I had to stop looking at my hidden StL list, only five members in it, but they all are hard to read today. Such hate in these people. I am really hoping Z's blog posts bite him in the ass. He's not too bright, is he? LOL He is messing with the head of SWAT and someone who owns a litigable business. He's a tough, dedicated working man ... something Z knows so little about.

They have no idea what they are doing, at this point, I am convinced. Wonder if any of their "Demands" have been met? :84

Even their council members and clergy get arrested for breaking the law.

St. Louis police would face limits on using pepper spray, tear gas under proposal
By Celeste Bott | St. Louis Post-Dispatch | October 3, 2017

ST. LOUIS • Putting limits on when police officers can use chemical agents or order crowds to disperse would help protect demonstrators' First Amendment rights, supporters of a bill filed this week argue.

The plan, filed by 15th Ward Alderman Megan Green, would repeal St. Louis' existing ordinance on unlawful assemblies, which she argues is too vague and gives officers a wide berth to declare a demonstration unlawful.

It has become an issue in recent weeks because of protests over the Jason Stockley verdict, and Green said the changes would help protect participants in future demonstrations.

"One of the issues right now is, how do you hold police accountable to an unlawful assembly ordinance where no one really understands what it means?" Green said in an interview Tuesday.
[...]
The proposal reflects a number of grievances voiced by demonstrators protesting the acquittal of former St. Louis police officer Jason Stockley, who is white, for the 2011 shooting of Anthony Lamar Smith, a black drug suspect. The verdict has spurred protests throughout the city and complaints of excessive force being used by law enforcement tasked with containing the unrest.

This is ridiculous.

The Cops need to spray these roaches.. sooner and harder.

We have seen repeatedly that the Mob gets more and more hysterical and violent... it escalates into window breaking and looting.

Best SPRAY early IMO

My only beef is that when they take these savages into custody.. they let them go next day! :94

They should put them in cages.... poke them with sticks for a few weeks... and only release back into the wild.. in some distant, non-populated desert.

:84

I can't stop giggling at this ...

I could be wrong (have been a dozen or more times in this thread) but I don't think Z or Heather are going to stream for a while. Just a feeling so Derp may be the only hope for tonight and he's on FB. :doh

Z knows he's a target now and Heather's been running her mouth since being maced.

We shall see.

I don't understand what this says, I don't know the positions of the people mentioned, but for reference:

Spoiler:
St. Louis Police Officers Association

Posted 10/3/2017, 5:30PM
ST. LOUIS POLICE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE:

In 2013, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, in consultation with the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office and this organization, created its Force Investigation Unit, using the model of police shooting investigations favored as best practices by the United States Department of Justice.

To ensure transparency, the Force Investigation Unit operates under the presumption that every police use of force is a potential criminal investigation, wherein the officer(s) in question could potentially be charged criminally for their actions.

The Force Investigation Unit was formed with seasoned police investigators, under the supervision of a veteran homicide section supervisory investigator. The members of this unit have undergone intensive training that is specific to the investigation of an police use of deadly force, and utilize the latest technology to aid in their investigations.

In today’s testimony before the Aldermanic Public Safety Committee, Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner voiced her desire to take sole responsibility for investigations of police use of deadly force. Circuit Attorney Gardner also testified, as she frequently has in the past, about the logistical challenges she currently faces pertaining to staff and resource capacity of her office on all cases before her and her team. As a labor union that has consistently called for additional staff and resources required to assist the overworked and underpaid women and men of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, we understand and sympathize with the Circuit Attorney’s personnel and budgetary woes.

Beyond Ms. Gardner’s testimony of staff and resource shortages, we have serious concerns as to the effectiveness of the Circuit Attorney’s oversight of officer involved uses of deadly force.

On September 30, 2017, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s investigative article “Stockley Case Transcripts Reveal Misstatements to Grand Jury”, authored by reporters Christine Byers and Joel Currier, detailed several inconsistencies between statements given by a state’s witness to the Grand Jury and that witness’ subsequent trial testimony. Also noted was the, as of yet, unrevealed “new evidence” touted by then Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, as the major factor in charging Jason Stockley in 2015. This is contrary to the initial findings of both her office, and that of then-United States Attorney General Eric Holder’s Department of Justice. Any reasonable assumption or conclusion would have to include, at best, the Circuit Attorney’s Offices’ negligence in thoroughly vetting the evidence it put forth at trial, which potentially resulted in a witness perjuring themselves.

These are not accusations rendered by this organization; they are the results of an investigative report from veteran journalists. For these reasons, among others, we disagree with the approach outlined by the Circuit Attorney.

The Circuit Attorney’s Office and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department have a symbiotic relationship that is necessary for the safety and security of the citizens of our City. There can be no appearance of political interference, and tension between our offices, especially during this critical juncture, is the last thing our City needs. Communication, cooperation and trust are paramount.

It is the position of our union that to ensure transparency, and to keep the confidence of both the citizens of our community, as well as the police officers charged with protecting them, the Force Investigation Unit should remain the investigating body for police use of deadly force, where the Circuit Attorney maintains its present role in these investigations. Additionally, as was recommended by the Ferguson Commission Report, we welcome and support the State of Missouri Attorney General’s office potential role as the reviewing authority of these investigations. This approach will ensure objective fairness to both the public and law enforcement professionals.
