Poll: Majority of GOP voters wish they chose another presidential nominee

A majority of Republicans wish they had selected a different presidential nominee than Donald Trump, a new poll finds.

A new HuffPost/YouGov poll released Monday found that 54 percent of Republican and GOP-leaning voters believe Trump isn’t the best choice as the party’s nominee, while 35 percent are satisfied with the real estate mogul as the party's standard-bearer.

There’s a jump in dissatisfaction since the same poll in June, which at the time found that 44 percent believe Trump was the best option, while another 44 percent didn’t.

Trump was one of 17 Republican candidates running for president. When asked whom they’d like to win in a primary do-over, 29 percent of those selected Trump, 15 percent picked Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), 14 percent chose Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), and several other names received less than 10 percent each.

To ask a "poll question" about a hypothetical that is IMPOSSIBLE in reality is ridiculous...
Republican's prefered choice of candidate is what the "Primary" was all about... you can not get a better "poll sample" than 31 million actual voters.... Trump "polled" 45% with them (14 million votes)> nobody else was close.. Lyin' Ted only got 25%


But even by their own daft results... rather than the claim "54% don't chose Trump.. since Lyin Ted polled only 15% (and Lil' Marco polled 14%)

...why not headline.....

Long-time Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio faces tough re-election bid

Arizona lawman Joe Arpaio has long battled controversy over his tough stance on illegal immigration but may now face his toughest test as he seeks a seventh term as sheriff of the state’s most populous county.

Arpaio's main competition in Tuesday's primary on the Republican side is from Dan Saban, a former police chief of Buckeye, Arizona who has lost to him twice before.

“Right now, we have an organization built around one person and his image and it’s quite disturbing,” said Saban, 60. “I’m compelled as a citizen to offer the voters another choice.”

By the next fiscal year, county taxpayers are projected to have spent $54 million on the on-going federal racial profiling case.

If Arpaio beats Saban on Tuesday, he will go up against Democrat Paul Penzone, a former Phoenix police officer who narrowly lost to Arpaio in 2012.
