I am a bit used up on Jodi Arias... but may get in the mood when it starts.

Tweets or a live blog are not ideal... but better than nothing... and it looks like we may get the audio anyway :)

Judge restricts live camera coverage in Arias case
05/27/2014

Quote:
If the second panel fails to end in a unanimous decision, the death penalty would be removed from consideration. The judge would then sentence Arias to spend her life behind bars or to be eligible for release after 25 years. The penalty phase retrial is set for Sept. 8.

I do agree with you about Jodi over kill I'm the same way, I just want her to get justice which so far she's not had.

Not that for one second do I think he was an angel exactly in the way he treated her, but he did not deserve what she did to him.

Although I would love to see Juan in action again, I won't miss seeing Jodi.

Arizona judge rejects bid to nix death penalty for Jodi Arias
By David Schwartz of Reuters, May 30

PHOENIX, May 30 (Reuters) —
An Arizona judge has again turned down a bid by convicted murderer Jodi Arias to be spared the death penalty during her sentencing retrial for killing her ex-boyfriend in 2008, court documents showed on Friday.

In a written ruling, Judge Sherry Stephens dismissed claims made by attorneys that the case was compromised when a key member of Arias' defense team was temporarily barred from visiting Maricopa County jails.

"The defendant has failed to establish she suffered any prejudice as a result of the incident involving the mitigation specialist," Stephens said in a ruling logged by the court on Friday but dated May 27.

Mitigation specialist Maria De La Rosa, who helps gather information to spare defendants a death sentence, was barred in March from the jail system after being accused of smuggling one of Arias' drawings out of a facility.

The ban by sheriff's officials was lifted a week later and she was again allowed to visit Arias, who faces a September retrial of the penalty phase of her case.

I think some of these prisoners like Arias get too much attention, and this is one girl who thrives on her notoriety absolutely.

I too will miss watching Juan again, I think he's an excellent prosecutor.

Fear not my little Cinderellas... you SHALL see Juan in action again!!! :91

The rulings allow for the trial to be video recorded and broadcast after the verdict.... I am SURE it will be shown......eventually.

There was huge interest in this case, so I'm ever hopeful.

I often wonder if there will be the same amount of interest in this case than there was at her original trial.

It hasn't lost its interest for me, purely because there is no outcome, I confess to not knowing why specifically in law there needs to be this second trial - guess it's how it's done in the good old US of A.

Nah. Not the same interest. Americans are fickle that way. :D. The vast majority has moved on.....including those most absorbed by her first trial.

She's a convicted murderer. Odds are she won't get the DP. The show won't be live. Nothing to see here, folks..... :). (Tho I confess to wanting tobstick around for the epilogue). :)

When I was following this trial, it was also on my mind that she was being used, which I do not condone, he would not be the first man, or indeed the last one, to use a woman in that way, whilst still behaving as though he was looking for a nice decent girl, and probably a Mormon. That's exactly what I think he was doing, and I think it was wrong if he was, to play this woman that way.

Having said all of this, my goodness he did not deserve what he got - no one would deserve to go that way, and don't you just know we all want to know what really happened in those last few hours, and minutes in that house!!! The man who can tell us is no longer here, the crazy wicked and vindictive woman is still here and despite all of her 'I would gladly take the death penalty' assertions, she's now fighting against the death sentence.

I'm not in favor of public money, taxes etc., being used to keep murderers of either sex in some degree of comfort in prison for the rest of their lives, and am a big defender of the death penalty so I think that's what she deserves to get.

Unfortunately it ends up costing the tax payer a big heap whether she is given DP or not. I have seen it said the DP costs more than keeping them in prison for life.

In Jodi's case... the trial(s) have already cost millions... and with DP there will be more appeals etc.

I guess the cost of the Justice system is something we have to accept.

One of my main concerns about DP.. is that is too easy. I kinda like the idea of people suffering a while for what they have done. Death is a release from that. But... I am also aware that some of these people don't "suffer" in prison as a normal person would... they adapt and suffer no particular mental anguish.

On the plus side.... sentencing somebody to DP is an "Extra" .... it shows that the crime has been found (by the judicial system and society) to be extra bad/evil.

Having broadcast the details of what Jodi did and demonstrated how evil she is... removed her from society... it would be good if people simply forgot about her... left her to rot. She thrives on all this attention.

I think her thriving on the attention is a big reason why those of us still interested in the case are not making such a big deal about it this time. Let her rot in obscurity.

good point, let's hope that's exactly what happens, they can make a name for themselves by authorizing their story through journalists etc. so she may never give up.
