About the Author
Ola W. Barnett is a Distinguished Professor Emerita of Psychology at Pepperdine University, Malibu, California. She earned her undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Psychology at UCLA, specializing in Learning. Her initial research centered on batterers, and she later studied battered women and dating violence. She has coauthored two best-selling Sage books (with Alyce D. LaViolette) on why battered women stay with abusive partners. These books provide a scientific explanation, grounded in learning theory, for understanding the obstacles battered women face in trying to break free. She remains active in the field of family violence by reviewing articles for a large number of journals and performing as an external grant reviewer for a few organizations. She serves on the editorial board of the new journal, Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice. She also continues research on the impact of transitional housing on the lives of battered women.

Since so much these days is about LaV ... is this misleading if one reads quickly? THIS is about her co-author I believe. So they have two books out ...

I think it's wrong, too, now matter how awful Laviolette is.
My understanding of amazon is that before you can leave a
review you have to have bought the book, so these people
are buying the book, just so they can leave these bad reviews,
how much sense does that make? :78

The State vs Jodi Arias ~ Travis Alexander murder trial

In 2010, Arias wished to resolve this case short of trial – that is, she submitted a plea proposal to the State. Arias felt the State would have difficulty convincing a jury of capital murder and premeditation. She also alluded that her testimony and that of expert witnesses will "paint a tawdry picture" of Travis, that of a playboy expert and sexual deviant. Arias also claimed further collateral damage to other individuals: The Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints, certain married couples and their standing within the community and personal friendships would all be affected and tarnished.

Arias was prepared to resolve this case via a plea to second degree murder. The State refused.

In 2011, Arias continued to bargain with the State. This time, she submitted a proposed resolution memorandum whereby she mentioned the email from Chris and Sky Hughes. Lisa Andrews and Marie Hall were also discussed.

Arias did not see the possibility of a death verdict being very likely. She felt the most severe sanction likely to be imposed would be life. She again requested a second degree murder offer from the State. The State refused.

Alyce’s Mad Hatter Kool Aid Party
Posted April 12, 2013 by eggtreenews

-Down the Rabbit Hole and 3 Red Mushrooms to the Left, Arizona

Professional victim Alyce LaViolette has spent the last two days tripping balls in Wonderland, trying to field questions from skeptical (and sober) jurors in the Jodi Arias trial. And judging by the tone of the queries, the eleventh hour “domestic abuse excuse” pitched by Stabby and her band of merry enablers is flying like a lead balloon in the courtroom. But domestic violence expert Alyce will still not budge from her seat at The Mad Hatter Kool Aid Party. She chugged it down in five gallon buckets, and is still trying to serve it to the jury.

Here are just some of the questions that MIGHT restore your faith in common sense after the whole Pinellas debacle, along with Alyce’s ridiculous answers.

Question: ”Why would you believe a pathological liar?”
Answer: “Because of the collaborative data.”

Since we can rule out consulting anyone or anything other than Arias and some cherry-picked texts, collaborative data can only be defense speak for “other lies told by Jodi.”

Question: “Could Jodi have exaggerated to help her case?”
Answer: “I found she was a person who didn’t exaggerate. She tended to minimize.”

To summarize: Using Cammy-D’s spiderman boyshorts as evidence of a pedophilia fetish is NOT exaggerating. And leaving work to drive 1000 miles to confront your ex about their new lovelife is MINIMIZING, everyone. Good. To. Know.

It was about this time the March Hare was spotted hopping through the courtroom with a teacup.

Question: “Why have you looked at Jodi multiple times during cross exam to meet eyes and smile?”
Answer: “I’ve been trying not to look at her. I have friends sitting near her. “

I would try not to look at her too. Because that wingnut’s black eyes will suck your soul away. And those aren’t your friends, Alyce. That’s Tweedle Nurmi and Tweedle Wilma, stirring up another giant bucket of Kool Aid for you to regurgitate all over the jury.

Question: “If you were brought in to determine domestic abuse, why didn’t you look more into Travis’ text that he was extremely fearful of Jodi?”
Answer: “I didn’t see anything else that made me think it’s true.”

Really? Not even his autopsy report, accompanied by her confession to 29 stab wounds, a gunshot to the head, and a slit throat? Stop eating the mushrooms, Alyce. I’m embarrased FOR you.

Question: “Is it possible your view of men in general is bias?”
Answer: “I don’t think so. Some of my best friends are men.”

Tell that to the seven dwarves; they’re holding quite a grudge since you accused them of beating Snow White. They still cringe whenever plumes of smoke from one of your bra-bonfires permeate their woods. Especially Bashful.

Question: “Is it conceivable a woman would kill her partner just to get away from abuse?”
Answer: “Conceivable, yes, but rare.”

Now brace youself for the followup question and answer, and try to keep your brain from collapsing in on itself with the sudden shift in gears. Wait for it…. Wait for it….

Question: “Jodi’s response to perceived danger on June 4, 2008 went way beyond neutralizing Travis. Is that normal?”
Answer: “Abused women often dont know when to stop with violence.”

Hdhdifosksbcurldlqmsbfkgltmsjh. Excuse me, my head hit the keyboard again. Just as a white rabbit dipped his pocket watch in the Kool Aid.

Question: “Jodi kicked, slapped, and berated her mother as a teenager. Doesnt that make her an abuser?”
Answer: “No, she was just a rebellious teenager.”

Got it. Girls are rebellious and feisty and allowed to suckerpunch their parents. Boys are actually young abusers. Such are the mad gender rules at this most curious of Kool Aid parties.

And finally, my personal favorite:

Question: “How do you know Jodi hasn’t manipulated you like everyone else?”
Answer: “I don’t feel I’ve been manipulated.”

Okey dokey then. If you say so.

kj hi. :28

I think Diane Fanning did that. I bought her book about Caylee Anthony called "Mommy's Little Girl".
She finished it and got it out before the trial. Kind of strange ... but maybe she wanted to get the first book out there? OR her Publisher did? Anyhow, she did it. I can't understand HOW she got all those CRAZY incidents written in some kind of logical order.

To me it was a great review of all that craziness of Casey Anthony and her lying family. But I think the best way is IF it is complete!! :28

I would like to read this one when it's complete ... I think. :46

ME on the stand. Unbelievable, horrific, what the psycho did to Travis. She needs the death penalty. She should never be free again to kill and no one could tell me she wouldn't.

MBTB Thanks for that link. Look at her with her MORBID CURIOUSITY. Tries to pretend she can't look at them, but then CAN'T STAND IT - and DOES!!!

I think she WOULD do it again if someone displeased the queen! I HOPE the jury sees how dangerous she is. THEY have relatives ... loved ones. Could be them - next!!

Get - her - off - the - streets!!

Joni, her father knows she's nuts. I bet he's glad she's in jail. He is probably thankful the family wasn't butchered. Also, Lisa is lucky to be alive. Travis wanted to marry her. I listened to her testimony too. Jodi walked into Travis's house unannounced and she was there with him.

When the ME was testifying she had her head forward to hide her face with her hair. She looked like a mop. She kept fixing her hair with her hand. Must look good. Narcissist all the way. She was pretending to cry, but the few times I could see her face there was no tears.

12:50 p.m. ET: "Do you know how long this show went on?" asked Nurmi.

"A few minutes," said Wong. She said she didn't see any jurors in the area to witness it.

Martinez says he has no questions for Wong.

12:49 p.m. ET: Wong says she has reviewed exhibit #2, which is a news story by a local affiliate that shows prosecutor Juan Martinez being treated like a celebrity. She says she saw him taking photos with members of the public and signing autographs, more than what was shown in the affiliate story.

12:48 p.m. ET: Wong says she remembers many of the jurors by face. She knows several of their numbers including 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 18 and 17. She says she's usually blocked from seeing Juror 10.

12:46 p.m. ET: Wong is being questioned by defense attorney Kurt Nurmi. Wong says she has been covering the trial nearly every day since jury selection. She has been in the gallery most days.

12:44 p.m. ET: The attorneys are at a sidebar.

12:43 p.m. ET: The judge has asked In Session Senior Field Producer Grace Wong to come to the witness stand.

12:39 p.m. ET: The judge is back on the bench. The jury is not present and the attorneys have approached for a sidebar.

This farce is mind boggling. The "show" on Juan MArtinez was done by a reporter at local NEWS show - so WHY would they want to question WONG?? The LOCAL reporter approached Juan in the elevator and unwisely begged him to speak with her and they walked out together the front way out of the courthouse where they encountered the "fans."

Juan was visibly surprised by the crowd and uncomfortable, yet ever the gentleman, he complied with the requests for pictures and autographs.
