It strikes me (as it did throughout the first trial) that Lavit is such an asshole that any jury member would be inclined to rule against any client of his)

He asks almost NOTHING BUT leading questions.. yet continually objects to legitimate questioning by State and calls it leading. He is argumentative, and apparently stupid as he forgets what he has already asked... etc he is simply an unpleasant man.

Vanessa Coleman retrial: She admits in interview she checked Channon Christian's pulse

KNOXVILLE — After a half dozen interviews, torture-slaying suspect Vanessa Coleman made a startling confession.

She had checked the pulse of victim Channon Christian, 21, to see if she was dead, according to an interview played for jurors today in Knox County Criminal Court.

"After (Lemaricus Davidson) had choked her, he had me come in and check her pulse because he didn't know if she was dead or not," Coleman said.

Coleman told U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Agent Bernie Waggoner in a January 2007 interview.

It was one of a total of nine statements Coleman gave about the January 2007 slayings of Christian and boyfriend, Christopher Newsom, 23.

Each time she was interviewed before her Jan. 31, 2007 indictment, she offered new details, Waggoner testified.

Those new details would turn her from federal witness to slaying suspect, he said.

Prosecutors rest case; Coleman retrial resumes Monday

Prosecutors rested their case Friday night in the retrial of Vanessa Coleman. The jury is sequestered in Knoxville for the weekend.

The state called its 49th, and final, witness to the stand around 6:30 p.m. Friday night. East Tennessee State University professor and handwriting expert, Dr. Larry Miller, testified that he had compared the handwriting in Coleman's journal to samples from Coleman. He determined that the most of the writing in the journal, and the samples, were from the same person.

Police found Coleman's journal with her in Kentucky, where she traveled to with Letalvis Cobbins and George Thomas, after the murders of Channon Christian and Chris Newsom were committed in Knoxville. Coleman wrote about her "adventures" in Tennessee in the journal on the car ride from Knoxville to Kentucky.
