Baltimore Cop Stabbed Numerous Times By Knife Wielding Predator…
Posted on July 18, 2015 by sundance

(Via Baltimore Sun) A Baltimore police officer was stabbed multiple times after responding to a domestic incident at an apartment building housing mostly University of Baltimore students early Saturday morning, police and school officials said.

The officer had responded to The Varsity on W. Biddle Street when he was stabbed in the face and neck, police said. James Goss, 20, was taken into custody at the scene. He faces 12 charges, including attempted murder and assault.

The officer was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center and his condition is serious but stable, police said. The department did not name the officer but said the 15-year veteran is married and has a young daughter.

Interim Commissioner Kevin Davis called the incident “a violent attack by a deranged knife-wielding predator.”

“Nearly stabbing to death and disfiguring a police officer is not an acceptable outcome for police officers who respond to 911 calls for service and otherwise protect this great city,” Davis said.

Baltimore Mayor Brags About Scope, Severity and Duration of Riots, Arson and City Burning….
Posted on July 19, 2015 by sundance

You just can’t make this stuff up. Baltimore Mayor Rawlings-Blake claims many cities are jealous of the duration of the arson, looting, riots and lawlessness. It only lasted a “few hours”, and “many cities would be proud of that accomplishment”….

Of course the looted and burned businesses might have a divergent perspective. But I digress. (video in tweet)

DENIED ! Marilyn Mosby’s Request To Hide Evidence (Protective Order) Denied By Baltimore Judge…
Posted on July 20, 2015 by sundance

D’oh – Yet again, Marilyn Mosby fails to make a legal and intellectual argument that has merit. The judge swatted this “protective order” down rather brutally. Apparently Mosby is unaware of the difference between “probative” and “prejudicial”.

BALTIMORE – A judge has denied the request of State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby to keep attorneys in the Freddie Case from publicizing evidence before the trial.

Mosby, who is prosecuting six police officers in Gray’s death, wanted a court hearing to argue for a protective order that would bar the release of any evidence — or, if the officers’ attorneys agreed, to post all of it online.

Mosby said she was concerned that the defense attorneys would leak only evidence that supported their clients’ defense, jeopardizing the ability to conduct a fair trial.

[…] In a ruling issued Monday, Judge Barry G. Williams rejected Mosby’s request without a hearing. He wrote that the state “does not suggest there is anything in discovery that warrants restricting disclosure.”

“The Court notes that discovery was turned over on June 26, 2015, and as of this date, the court is not aware of the dissemination of any discovery information by Defendants,” Williams wrote. “The only discovery item that has become public as of this date has been information from the autopsy report, and at the time of the alleged disclosure, the report had not been turned over to Defendants.”

Williams concluded that “there simply is no basis in the assertions presented to the court for the broad and extraordinary relief sought in the motion.”

[PREVIOUSLY] A separate motion by Mosby’s office for a gag order on trial participants was struck because of a procedural misstep. It was filed in Circuit Court on May 14, a week before the officers were indicted, and the case was transferred there from District Court.

Mosby’s office refused comment

Team Mosby Gnashes Teeth, Stomp Feet, Threaten To Seek Sanctions Against Defense Team…
Posted on July 25, 2015 by sundance

Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby has previously, and hypocritically, stated she doesn’t want to argue the merits of her case in the court of public opinion. Of course she customarily does this in interviews with media who report to the venue of public opinion.

Keeping with this tradition, her office now tells the media about a ridiculous legal filing they are considering, claiming the defense team is calling them names, or something…

Image

BALTIMORE – Prosecutors plan to seek sanctions against the defense attorneys for six Baltimore police officers charged in Freddie Gray‘s death, accusing them of “factual mendacity and legal malarkey.”

“Courts may justifiably recoil when a lawyer refers to opposing counsel as liars, and the State does not do so here, but what term is a lawyer to use to describe their deliberate falsehoods?” Chief Deputy State’s Attorney Michael Schatzow wrote in a motion filed in Baltimore Circuit Court.

Prosecutors accuse the defense of abusing the subpoena process when it obtained the cellphone records of an assistant state’s attorney. They also contend the defense crossed the line by accusing prosecutors of “judge shopping” to obtain a search warrant.

Inept, Incompetent, Unprepared: Baltimore In Chaos – 7,000 Emails Released By Public Record Request….
Posted on July 27, 2015 by sundance

The Baltimore Sun is poring through 7,000 communiques from Baltimore city leadership surrounding the events of the Baltimore riots.

What the emails initially show is an inept structure of municipal leadership ill-prepared to deal with the crisis that surrounded them. In addition, their fear of self-preservation -amid a politically incorrect toxic fire of civil unrest- is evident in their stumbling, incompetent reaction to the chaos.

Everyone is in charge of something, and no-one in charge of everything.

Interesting – During Baltimore Riots Maryland MCAC Intel Hub and Homeland Security Were Tracking Malik Shabazz…
Posted on July 28, 2015 by sundance

Part of the 7,000 emails released to the Baltimore Sun reveals the MCAC Data Hub and DHS tracking former Black Panther leader Malik Shabazz during the Baltimore riots.

The MCAC Hub previously came to our attention two years ago when we discovered Maryland using DHS databases to collected license plate information (via ALPR) and cross references to national firearm purchases via contracted data mining of various state concealed carry permit libraries.

Apparently the MCAC Data Hub is good for something beside tracking drivers and gun owners.

BALTIMORE – Officials in Maryland worried that out-of-town protest leader Malik Shabazz would incite violence at a protest planned the weekend after rioting wracked Baltimore, newly released documents show, and had been monitoring his activities in the city for a week..

Shabazz, the president of Washington-based Black Lawyers for Justice and former leader of the New Black Panther Party, came to Baltimore to help lead protests, and his activities were closely watched by city officials, the documents show.

A bulletin sent out by the Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center, a group that circulates information between federal and local law enforcement, warned police officers to be on their guard ahead of a planned protest led by Shabazz on May 2.

Text Messages Show Marilyn Mosby’s Office Went ‘Judge-Shopping’

Chuck Ross
Reporter
2:09 PM 07/30/2015

http://dailycaller.com/2015/07/30/text- ... -shopping/

(excerpts)

The defense attorneys for the six Baltimore police officers charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray have text message evidence they say shows a prosecutor in the office of state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby “judge-shopping” for a warrant for the cops’ cell phones.

The Baltimore Sun reports that in a motion filed Wednesday, the cops’ attorneys said they have phone logs and text messages from April 27 showing that assistant state’s attorney Albert Peisinger reached out to Baltimore circuit court judge Timothy Doory to sign off on a search warrant for the officers’ department-issued phones. That was after a search warrant had already been denied by a different judge.
------------

A phone log shows that Peisinger called Doory’s chambers on the morning of April 27, which was four days before Mosby announced charged against the six Baltimore officers. Peisinger was also sending text messages with a Baltimore police detective who was attempting to get a search warrant signed.

The text messages obtained by the cops’ attorneys indicate that the detective asked Peisinger if the rejected warrant could be improved in any way and then re-submitted for approval.

But Peisinger declined that suggestion, texting “we should be fine.”

“I will call to see if Doory will possible [sic] sign them,” he wrote, according to the defense.

Peisinger wrote to the detective 18 minutes later, informing him that he was “waiting for a call back” and that he “spoke to the judges chambers.”

Three hours later, Peisinger wrote to the detective: “calling you now.” An hour after that, the detective told Peisinger: “Got them signed thanks for everything.”

Doory also signed off on a warrant for the officers’ personal cell phones.
---------------

Unmentioned in the article is that Doory is the judge currently overseeing grand juries in Baltimore.

In late May, weeks after Mosby announced charges, a grand jury convened and determined similar charges against the six officers.

Baltimore attorney once defended Freddie Gray
Six officers charged in Gray's death
UPDATED 5:54 PM EDT Jul 30, 2015

http://www.wtae.com/politics/baltimore- ... y/34445964

(CNN) —Baltimore's deputy state's attorney, who is prosecuting the six police officers for the in-custody death of Freddie Gray, once represented the victim in an unrelated 2012 criminal case, court documents show Thursday.

The connection was discovered after a new filing by the defense attorneys for the officers charged in Gray's death, who are concerned that it could be a conflict of interest and yet another reason why Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby's office should recuse itself from the case.

The documents include a letter dated September 11, 2012, from the Office of the Public Defender addressed to Jan Bledsoe, informing her that she had been assigned a case for defendant Freddie Gray, who was being charged with possession of cocaine and marijuana with intent to distribute.

Baltimore Cops’ Attorneys Just Made Two Explosive Claims In Freddie Gray Case

Chuck Ross
Reporter
9:53 PM 07/30/2015

http://dailycaller.com/2015/07/30/balti ... gray-case/

(excerpts)

The defense attorneys for the six Baltimore cops charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray made two explosive claims in a court motion filed on Thursday.

According to The Baltimore Sun, the officers’ attorneys are claiming that the office of Baltimore city state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby has evidence that the 25-year-old Gray had “attempted to injure himself” in police custody prior to his April 12 arrest. They also claim that Mosby had a “private meeting” with the medical examiner who conducted Gray’s autopsy days before the report was released.

Mosby’s office has failed to turn that evidence over to the defense, the attorneys asserted.

“Based upon information and belief, the State’s Attorney’s Office was informed of this fact, yet failed to disclose to the Defendants any statements, reports, or other communications relating to this information,” the attorneys said of evidence that Gray has tried to harm himself during a previous arrest.

Prosecutors have also withheld “multiple witness statements from individuals who stated that Mr. Gray was banging and shaking the van at various points,” the defense claims, adding that they have also concealed “police reports, court records, and witness statements indicating that on prior occasions, Mr. Gray had fled from police and attempted to discard drugs.”
------------

Mosby also failed to disclose that she met privately with Carol Allan, the medical examiner who conducted Gray’s autopsy, the motion reads, according to The Sun.

Very interesting if it turns out to be true about there being evidence that Gray had previously attempted to injure himself while in police custody. Additionally very troubling if the prosecution has intentionally withheld such evidence.

Baltimore Prosecutors Hid Evidence Freddie Gray Tried To Injure Himself During Prior Arrests…
Posted on July 30, 2015 by sundance

Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby previously stated she was going to peruse justice for Freddie Gray “by any and all means necessary“. Today, in a motion filed by the defense, the extent of Mosby’s activist intention is again reinforced.

In addition to hiding “Brady evidence“, there is a meeting between Mosby and the medical examiner (prior to the autopsy release – and undisclosed by Mosby) which indicates previous elements of her pressuring the ME to change the cause of death from “accidental” to “homicide”.

BALTIMORE – Prosecutors have information indicating that Freddie Gray “attempted to injure himself” during a previous arrest, but have intentionally withheld it from their criminal case against the six Baltimore police officers charged in Gray’s apprehension and death in April, the officers’ attorneys said in a court filing Thursday.

“Based upon information and belief, the State’s Attorney’s Office was informed of this fact, yet failed to disclose to the Defendants any statements, reports, or other communications relating to this information,” they wrote.

[…] In their filing Thursday, the defense attorneys said prosecutors have withheld “multiple witness statements from individuals who stated that Mr. Gray was banging and shaking the van at various points” after his arrest April 12, as well as “police reports, court records, and witness statements indicating that on prior occasions, Mr. Gray had fled from police and attempted to discard drugs.”

A spokeswoman for State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby declined to comment. But in a court filing, prosecutors have said they gave defense attorneys all the evidence to which they are entitled last month as part of the discovery process.

Loretta Lynch Embeds Federal Agents In Baltimore To Help Control Embarrassment of Growing Crisis…
Posted on August 2, 2015 by sundance
The transparency of motive is brutally obvious. As Baltimore suffers the worst explosion of gun/homicide violence in 40 years, the race-based professional apologists have to move quickly to avoid the consequences from their own insufferable policy/agenda failures.

Image

BALTIMORE – After 10 people were shot — seven of them in one incident — overnight in Baltimore following the city’s most violent month in decades, police announced Sunday that 10 federal agents will embed with the city’s homicide unit for the next two months.

The special agents detailed to the city from the FBI, the Drug Enforcement Agency, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Secret Service represent a “flipping of the script of sorts,” Interim Police Commissioner Kevin Davis said.

“That’s a bit unusual because local police departments — and Baltimore is no different — historically send detectives to federal law enforcement agencies to embed with their long-term investigations,” he said.

Baltimore State Attorney Mosby Derails Program Analyzing Root Cause of Baltimore Homicide Spike…
Posted on August 3, 2015 by sundance

Yet again, the transparency here is obvious. Marilyn Mosby doesn’t want to allow a commission to analyze the root cause of the Baltimore homicide rate; why, because -at the core- it’s her earlier activist, anti-cop, decisions that are creating the hostile city culture.

Through her efforts, and those of the predominantly black city leadership, they have created a petri-dish of empowered lawlessness while simultaneously undermining the lawful authority of the police officers who are charged with controlling the chaos.

Progressives of every stripe always attempt to avoid the consequences from their ideological constructs; to include hiding and masking the outcomes.

Baltimore – Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby recently derailed an initiative to bring together city leaders, law enforcement commanders, academics, public health officials and others to identify real-time homicide trends and develop targeted responses — the latest crime-fighting program to falter amid a dramatic spike in violence..

After months of promising unprecedented transparency and collaboration with law enforcement partners, Mosby said she didn’t want to share information that others in the fledgling Baltimore Homicide Review Commission considered critical to success. She said providing information on ongoing cases could compromise investigations or jeopardize the safety of victims and witnesses.

Baltimore Prosecutor Stopped Investigator From Exposing Freddie Gray “Crash for Cash” Schemes….
Posted on August 7, 2015 by sundance

Most readers here are familiar with the set-up; Marilyn Mosby and Angela Corey followed the same plan. Unfortunately most of those who rely on the MSM will be unaware the extent of the prosecutor railroading.

Image

This new motion by the defense reveals a few new aspects:

#1) The prosecutor in charge of the case, Janice Bledsoe (also partner of WBAL-TV reporter) was the defense attorney for Freddie Gray in a prior case.

#2) Bledsoe told police in this case, not to investigate the evidence that Gray ‘intentionally injured himself’.

#3) Bledsoe also did not tell the Medical Examiner, that witness Donta Allen heard Gray trying to injure himself.

BALTIMORE – The police detectives who investigated the death of Freddie Gray were told that he had a history of participating in “crash-for-cash” schemes — injuring himself in law enforcement settings to collect settlements — but were advised by a state prosecutor not to pursue the information, according to defense attorneys for the six officers charged in Gray’s arrest and death.

The defense attorneys said in a court motion Thursday that Assistant State’s Attorney Janice Bledsoe told police investigators working the case in its early stages not to “do the defense attorneys’ jobs for them” by pursuing information they had about such schemes and evidence that Gray “intentionally injured himself at the Baltimore City Detention Center.”

Bledsoe, the lead prosecutor in the case against the officers, represented Gray in a 2012 case in which he pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine.

The defense attorneys argued that her alleged statement “would seem to indicate some level of knowledge that exculpatory evidence exists which could benefit the officers charged in Mr. Gray’s death and that the prosecutor did not want this information uncovered by investigators.”

The defense attorneys said they obtained the information from interviews with prosecution witnesses.

They have argued in previous motions that Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby has failed to provide large amounts of evidence through the normal discovery process, and that they have spent hundreds of hours collecting evidence on their own.

Police in riot gear cleared dirt bike riders and a crowd of spectators from Baltimore streets Sunday evening.

ABC2News.com
WMAR Staff | August 10, 2015, 1:45PM ET

Baltimore Police were called to Reisterstown Road across from the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore after getting calls about “hundreds” of dirt bike riders in that area.

The first officers on the scene called for backup and as more officers arrived, police said some people in the crowd starting throwing rocks at police and fights broke out.

Eventually police were able to disperse the crowd, but it’s not the first time they’ve been called to the area over complaints about dirt bikes.

Some members of the community say it’s a summer tradition for dirt bikers to ride up and down the road, sometimes doing stunts for spectators.

Prosecutors in Freddie Gray case say police source leaks information to defense

The Baltimore Sun
By Kevin Rector | August 11, 2015, 9:19PM

At least one former or current member of the Baltimore Police Department has been "actively working" with defense attorneys for the six officers charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray, according to prosecutors -- leaking them an "arsenal of material" to use in a "campaign of public-relations warfare."

Deputy State's Attorney Michael Schatzow alleged in a recent motion that some of the information leaked to the defense has been true and some false. He warned defense attorneys that they are not entitled to "blindly believe and repeat every piece of information they may have been told by politically motivated sources."

The source of the information was not identified, and Schatzow did not specify what information is believed to have been leaked.

The motion follows others in which defense attorneys have alleged that the prosecution has not provided all of the evidence they are entitled to receive and said that they have conducted their own lengthy investigation of the case as a result -- in part by interviewing state witnesses, some of whom are police officers.

On Tuesday, the Police Department directed all questions to Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby, who did not respond to a request for comment.

None of the officers' attorneys responded to a request for comment.

Baltimore State Attorney Marilyn Mosby Tries To Quash Sunlight Before Public Embarrassment…
Posted on August 17, 2015 by sundance

The Baltimore State Attorney, Marilyn Mosby, filed response motions today in advance of next month’s scheduled hearing. She does not want her investigative team questioned about their activity prior to her Direct Action Charges. In essence she is directly trying to avoid sunlight.

When you read the response motions you begin to understand why. Example #1)

[…] In asking Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams to revoke the subpoenas, prosecutors expanded on their responses to past defense allegations, including a claim that prosecutors steered police away from looking into whether Gray had a history of “crash-for-cash” schemes to injure himself in hope of collecting settlements.

Prosecutors said they “wanted to keep police focused on uncovering what happened to Mr. Gray inside the transportation van and not on what may have happened to Mr. Gray in some past incident,” which they say requires no one to testify to explain.

“One of the state’s legal obligations is to advocate for Mr. Gray as a victim and uncover how he was injured, not to stand blinded by the blue lights and conclude that he was to blame for his own fatal injuries because of some prior accusation of self-injury in police custody,” prosecutors wrote.

As if the fact that Freddie Gray having previously attempted to injure himself would have absolutely no bearing on a rather suspicious set of injuries that could entirely be explained by his prior self-infliction of similar injury. You see what she’s doing there?

Former Baltimore prosecutor: Marilyn Mosby has a role in city's violence increase
By Roya Hanna
12th August, 2015

It is only August, and Baltimore is staring at 200 dead men, women and children. Having been a prosecutor in this city for 12 years, four in the Homicide Division, I can no longer stand idly by and watch State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby avoid taking responsibility for her role in the increase in violence.

The most recent example of her questionable leadership is her decision to restrict the Homicide Review Commission to closed cases that occurred before she became state's attorney. She claims the program is a waste of money, places witnesses in jeopardy and is pointless because she knows the reason for the increase in violence is drugs.

When I was involved in the commission in its early stages, organizers asked us to send one prosecutor, for one afternoon, once a month. It did not cost the state's attorney's office anything except time. Coming off the deadliest month in decades –— deadliest in our history per capita — is now really the time to be turning down free help?

In Ms. Mosby's recent op-ed she claimed that she was limiting the office's participation to closed cases out of concern for witnesses' safety. All experienced prosecutors know the dangers of being labeled a snitch do not end when the case closes. Where was her purported concern for witnesses' safety when her administration published a press release including the name of a witness on April 15? (It was later changed after complaints.) Certainly sharing a witness' involvement with the whole city is more dangerous than sharing it with three researchers from Johns Hopkins who could have been required to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Baltimore preparing for protests during next week's hearing in Freddie Gray case

The Baltimore Sun
By Luke Broadwater | August 26, 2015

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said Wednesday that city officials are preparing for protests as court hearings ramp up in the Freddie Gray case by coordinating with law enforcement agencies around the state, upgrading riot gear and conducting crowd-control training.

The mayor also said officials plan to hold educational sessions in schools to explain the justice system to students.

Over the next two weeks, court hearings will be held to consider several key issues in the Gray case, including whether charges should be dismissed, whether Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn J. Mosby should be recused and whether the trials should be moved out of Baltimore. The first is scheduled for Wednesday.

On Thursday, Baltimore police plan to meet with law enforcement agencies from around Maryland to discuss the potential for unrest during the hearings.

Col. Charles Kohler, a spokesman for the Maryland National Guard, confirmed that senior military leaders plan to attend the meeting. The Guard, which deployed in Baltimore to help restore order after the riots, recently carried out civil disturbance training at a facility in Edgewood.

Others attending the meeting include top police officials from Baltimore County, Carroll County, Anne Arundel County and the Maryland State Police, those agencies said.

Baltimore Police cancel officer leave for Freddie Gray court hearings

The Baltimore Sun
By Kevin Rector | August 31, 2015

The Baltimore Police Department has canceled leave for officers on Wednesday and on Sept. 10, when hearings are scheduled in the case against six officers charged in the arrest and death of Freddie Gray, police said.

Canceling leave ensures the department has a maximum number of officers working or on call "in case there are any issues we need to respond to," said T.J. Smith, the department's chief spokesman.

The decision was made last week "out of an abundance of caution, just so we're not caught flat-footed in case there is a need," Smith said.

Wednesday's hearing is expected to center on several motions filed in the case by defense attorneys and prosecutors, including defense motions to have the case dismissed and for Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby's office to be recused. How and whether the officers will be split up for trial will also be discussed.

The hearing on Sept. 10 is expected to focus on a defense motion to have the case moved out of Baltimore.

Smith said he did not know Monday how many officers are affected by the cancellation of leave for the two hearing dates. The force has about 3,000 officers.

Police do not release details about the staging or deployment of officers, but an increased law enforcement presence is expected during the hearings near and at the Circuit Court buildings downtown.
