Attorney: Man accused in Ferguson shooting to stay jailedFOX2NOW.com
By Associated Press | July 9, 2015ST. LOUIS (AP) – An attorney for a man accused of shooting two police officers in March during a Ferguson protest says his client likely will remain jailed until the case is resolved.
A St. Louis County judge on Wednesday lowered bond for 20-year-old Jeffrey L. Williams from $300,000 cash to $200,000, despite a prosecutor’s objections.
But Williams’ attorney, Jerryl Christmas, tells The Associated Press that Williams isn’t likely to come up with the $200,000 cash that would free him pending trial on seven counts linked to the March shooting.
Williams has pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action and two weapons charges.
Prosecutors say Williams wounded a St. Louis County officer and an officer from suburban Webster Groves during an early-morning rally. Both officers survived.
