ST. LOUIS • Dorian Johnson, the man who was with Michael Brown Jr. when Brown was fatally shot by a Ferguson police officer last summer, has been arrested on suspicion of drug charges and resisting arrest, St. Louis police said.

Johnson was arrested on Wednesday and police are pursuing charges. The specifics of where and when he was arrested have not yet been released.

Johnson was walking with Michael Brown Jr. on Aug. 9 when the two were approached by Ferguson police Officer Darren Wilson. The encounter ended with Brown fatally shot and led to months of protests and unrest in Ferguson.

Johnson recently filed a lawsuit against the city, Wilson and former police chief Thomas Jackson.

The suit claims that Wilson assaulted Johnson, violated his constitutional rights, and intentionally and negligently inflicted emotional pain during the encounter.

The lawsuit seeks damages, including punitive, of at least $25,000. It also seeks an injunction to prevent the city of Ferguson and its police from engaging in assault, unlawful arrest and excessive use of force.

Dorian Johnson, key witness in Michael Brown case, arrested

(CNN) Police have arrested Dorian Johnson, the man who was walking with Michael Brown when he was fatally shot by an officer in Ferguson, Missouri.

Officers arrested Johnson Wednesday after he allegedly interfered with an arrest and was seen "discarding suspected narcotics on the ground," St. Louis County Police spokeswoman Leah K. Freeman said.

Charges in the case have not yet been filed, Freeman said. Johnson's attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Police released details of an incident involving three men taken into custody after officers were called to the 5700 block of Acme Avenue at 3:21 p.m. Wednesday by someone “reporting a large group of subjects who were possibly armed with firearms.”

The police report did not name Johnson, but a police source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the incident involved Johnson and two of his brothers. Johnson allegedly had a cough medication mixed with what police believe to be an illegal narcotic on him.

The report said that as the officers who went to the scene dispersed the crowd, they noticed that one man had a bulge in his clothes that they suspected might be a weapon. A second man grabbed the arm of the officer who attempted to pat the first man down. The officer then attempted to detain the second man.

That prompted a third man to approach the officer and yell at him in an attempt to stop the arrest, the report said. That man allegedly then discarded narcotics onto the ground.

All three were arrested. One of Johnson’s brothers was found to be wanted in Bridgeton on warrants for armed robbery and armed criminal action, the police source said.

If you notice on the video you will see the fire hydrant to his left which is left of the house. You'll also notice the steps to his house are right at the sidewalk and when he quickly pans towards house next door, you can see the two windows and trash bin of the house next door. From video...

I did spot the hydrant as landmark.. and found same house on google map :cool

But.....

Who's to say he came out of that house? And not a house up the road.. then start filming?

if you look across the street, you will also see the rusted old chain link fence that is across the street from him in the video.

True but If you notice in the video, he starts walking up the steps before the video goes off.

I am convinced Froggie.

My point (Rumpole is hard-core defense person) was just that he could have walked from ANY house before starting the vid.. nothing to say he came from that house.. but... it is likely he did.

Scuttlebutt from inmates overheard at local jail...if he faces any serious time w/I statute of limitations Loretta Lynch charges him with Federal obstruction or false report ...whatever.. to move him into a fed facility vs state prison to rank him & his gang up while upsetting the immigrant ms13 status quo

Haven't been on twitter much so I am WAY behind on Ferguson. Don't cha know we don't even know the half of it what all goes on. Did see yesterday in news reports that several, if not 10?, people were killed in the St. Louis area in one day. :eek I'm guessing the street parties (protests) have died down. Time to check Heather's TL :)

UPDATED that Johnson is free on bond; earlier version reported incorrect court records.

ST. LOUIS • A key witness in the Michael Brown shooting death has been freed on reduced bond six days after being charged with resisting arrest during another confrontation with police.

Twenty-three-year-old Dorian Johnson's payment Wednesday of the required $100 to cover the $1,000 bond came just hours after a St. Louis judge reduced the bond from one that required Johnson to come up with $1,000 cash.
