St. Louis police pressured me “to snitch on my friends,” says Palestinian-American protester
Submitted by Rania Khalek on Wed, 10/15/2014 - 21:50

A Palestinian-American activist says police in the city of St. Louis, Missouri, put pressure on him to inform on others taking part in protests against violence by that force earlier this week.

Bassem Masri, a 27-year-old self-described “pissed off citizen” from St. Louis, was arrested on Monday with around a dozen other demonstrators, including the hip-hop artist Tef Poe, while protesting at a St. Louis area Walmart.

Witness adds new perspective to Ferguson shooting
By Christine Byers

CLAYTON • A stream of eyewitnesses has been testifying in secret before a grand jury considering whether to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown near the Canfield Green apartments in Ferguson.

One Canfield resident — who said he saw the killing of Brown from start to finish and talked to the grand jury recently — has given the Post-Dispatch an account with some key differences from previous public statements from other witnesses.

Among the recollections of the witness, who agreed to an interview on the condition that his name not be used, were:

  • After an initial scuffle in the car, the officer did not fire until Brown turned back toward him.
  • Brown put his arms out to his sides but never raised his hands high.
  • Brown staggered toward Wilson despite commands to stop.
  • The two were about 20 to 25 feet apart when the last shots were fired.
  • He would not detail what he had told the grand jury but said the members seemed fair and asked a lot of questions.

Ferguson Activist dislikes the taste of her own medicine

Image

Leigh Maibes, an outspoken protester/activist for the Michael Brown movement got her granny panties twisted by an officer with the St. Louis Police Department. She says her Twitter account was completely anonymous until two days ago, when her identity, Short Stack/@stackizshort, was compromised by a troll.

Short Stack posted a video Wednesday night of her calling and confronting the Police officer, Keith Novara. Maibes, clearly upset, says the officer called her job the day before to tell her boss about her activism.

Actually, Maibes complained about her job being effected by "smear tactics" two weeks ago and gave her own name out on the 13th.

Police Officer in Ferguson Is Said to Recount a Struggle
By MICHAEL S. SCHMIDT, MATT APUZZO and JULIE BOSMANOCT. 17, 2014

WASHINGTON — The police officer who fatally shot Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., two months ago has told investigators that he was pinned in his vehicle and in fear for his life as he struggled over his gun with Mr. Brown, according to government officials briefed on the federal civil rights investigation into the matter.

The officer, Darren Wilson, has told the authorities that during the scuffle, Mr. Brown reached for the gun. It was fired twice in the car, according to forensics tests performed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The first bullet struck Mr. Brown in the arm; the second bullet missed.

The forensics tests showed Mr. Brown’s blood on the gun, as well as on the interior door panel and on Officer Wilson’s uniform. Officer Wilson told the authorities that Mr. Brown had punched and scratched him repeatedly, leaving swelling on his face and cuts on his neck.

This is the first public account of Officer Wilson’s testimony to investigators, but it does not explain why, after he emerged from his vehicle, he fired at Mr. Brown multiple times. It contradicts some witness accounts, and it will not calm those who have been demanding to know why an unarmed man was shot a total of six times. Mr. Brown’s death continues to fuel anger and sometimes-violent protests.

Fans and protesters clash after Rams game

http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/police-arrest-two-ferguson-protesters-in-clash-with-rams-fans/article_dcca3100-aa78-5ea0-a55f-c8833a07a4f6.html

"Rams fans and Ferguson protesters fought Sunday afternoon outside the Edward Jones Dome after the Rams secured a victory over the visiting Seattle Seahawks.

About 3 p.m. a handful of fans argued with protesters, who were yelling and chanting, near the intersection of North Broadway and Cole streets. The yelling escalated, a fan appeared to spit on one of the protesters and he was then struck on the head, at which point a melee ensued and punches were thrown.

At one point during the scuffle, a protester carrying an upside-down American flag used the pole as a weapon, attempting to jab a fan with the pole. A short time later, after the initial confrontation, a different fan grabbed the flag and ran with it for a brief period; protesters then wrestled the flag back.

Two women, one of whom was a juvenile, were arrested after the fight, police said.

Two people were injured including one woman who was punched in the face after chanting “Let’s go Rams” to protesters. She was later treated and released by paramedics. Police did not provide details on the second victim’s injuries.

Police said two groups of about 20 to 25 people each had argued and fought."

NOTE: The report of a fan spitting on a protester was 'hearsay' and not confirmed. However two videos provide evidence of: female black protestor punching a white male, and spitting at another, and other evidence of protestor aggression against white fans: video and links at the above link.

NOTE2: The Post Dispatch revised the story and omitted the 'hearsay spitting' report, and the link above is to the revision, with new details about the two women arrested.

Attorney talks grand jury update in Darren Wilson case
Posted 9:07 am, October 20, 2014, by John Pertzborn

(KTVI)- When will the grand jury announce its decision on whether or not Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson will face charges in the shooting death of Michael Brown?

The St. Louis area continues to hold its breath.

Some residents want to know why is the grand jury taking so long. They also want to know why is he presenting all the evidence as this is unusual for a prosecutor and they have questions surrounding why there wasn’t a preliminary hearing.

Our legal expert, Attorney Chet Pleban answers these questions and more.

Ferguson turns into tinderbox once again after new details leaked
By Sara Sidner and Holly Yan, CNN
October 21, 2014 -- Updated 1934 GMT (0334 HKT)

Ferguson, Missouri (CNN) -- This is the new normal in Ferguson: Protests, day and night, for more than 70 days now.

Sometimes it's hundreds of demonstrators, sometimes just a handful. But they're always outside the Ferguson Police Department, clamoring for the indictment of Officer Darren Wilson in the shooting death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown.

And with new details about the investigation leaked, tensions are escalating.

On Monday night, St. Louis County police detained two protesters, including Missouri State Sen. Jamilah Nasheed. She was detained as she blocked traffic in the middle of the street while protesting outside the Police Department.

Now, there are fears about what could happen next. One protester put it succinctly:

"If there is not an indictment, excuse my French, all hell is going to break loose."

It's going to get very ugly when there is a failure to indict. Especially since people have been allowed to burn and loot buildings, spit on officers, threaten the lives of officers and their families, yell shout stomp for hours on end in mutually shared public spaces, lie, and so on, with almost blanket immunity.

This line from Nixon's letter of appeasement is stunning;

We must hold ourselves, and one another, accountable to the highest standards of personal responsibility and mutual respect.

Where has he been for the last 70 days?

Mutual respect ? The protesters have no respect for the police or even their fellow citizens who simply want to go to a ball game.

Source: Darren Wilson says Michael Brown kept charging at him
10 minutes ago • By Robert Patrick and Christine Byers

FERGUSON • Police Officer Darren Wilson told investigators that in a struggle for his pistol inside a police SUV, Michael Brown pressed the barrel of Wilson's gun against the officer's hip, according to a source with knowledge of his statements.

Wilson tried to prevent Brown from reaching the trigger, the source said, and when he thought he had control he fired. But Brown's hand was blocking the mechanism.

When Wilson got two shots off, Brown was hit in the hand and ran. Wilson fired again when Brown turned back and charged at him, Wilson told investigators.

Autopsy includes THC in Blood and Urine. Not sure we will see more than that.
That may have been his drug of choice. Not got a crack habit yet.

Former police chief calls it "letting them down slowly."

More leaks expected in Brown shooting
Christina Coleman, KSDK 5:43 a.m. CDT October 21, 2014

FERGUSON, Mo. - Officer Darren Wilson's side of the story in the Michael Brown shooting has been making national headlines ever since the New York Times published information they say was leaked by government officials.

Former St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch believes more information will be leaked out to the media by a government source. Fitch says this strategy has been used before, "Assuming that the article is correct my belief is that there will be future articles written as probably from the same federal source that will let out a little information each time as it gets closer to the actual announcement of the verdict or charges or no charges."

Fitch believes the leaked information is an attempt to let some people down slowly, "It was an intentional release with someone familiar with the federal side of the investigation, in my opinion, for the sole purpose of preparing the community for what may be seen for many as bad news, that there's not going to be any federal charges."
