I never played in a team... I wasn't a team joining guy.. but growing up in NZ (or Wales) most boys play rugby based games.. throw a ball around and jump on each other at least. LOL I did follow my High School "First 15" team around as a supporter... probably it was for the parties every sat night (and the chicks) after the game. ![]() I USED to follow it closely as a TV fan.. local competition and the "professional league" Super 15 competition between teams from NZ, Aust, and S. Africa. I also of course followed International ("test matches"). A supporter of NZ "Allblacks" UNLESS.. they are playing Wales.... love to see Wales beat the Allblacks (before I die) ![]() I guess online BS has taken its toll... I have not watched much Rugby (or cricket) last few years. I will watch RWC. Ahead of WC there is a game on tonight between NZ and Australia... we play for the "Bledisloe Cup" each year. Number of games palyed varies.. this year two games.. first tonight in Sydney.(Australia) Quote: Australia face an uphill struggle in attempting to break New Zealand's 12-year hold of the Bledisloe Cup, with the southern-hemisphere powerhouses kicking off a climactic back-to-back series this Saturday.

There are only a few TOP rugby playing countries.. much fewer than say, Soccer. The Northern Hemisphere have annual "6 Nations" competition, contested by England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales The Southern Hemisphere had the Tri-Nation series - NZ, Aust, S. Africa, now joined by Argentina and known as "The Rugby Championship" Outside those 10 nations, there are a few other places that take Rugby seriously. Samoa, Tonga, Fiji - pacific Nations - do have world class teams. Many players part of the large "immigrant" populations in NZ hailing from various Pacific island nations. In both NZ and Wales it has been described as closer to a "religion" than a sport. It is certainly taken very seriously ![]() USA has always taken part as far as I recall? NZ are current Rugby WC holders.. just sayin' ![]() |

Close game.. lead oscillated. In the end .....Australia won 27 - 19 Australia WIN the Rugby Championship, but the Bledisloe cup will be decided next week. Final Standings - Rugby Championship ![]() Next week's game Aust V NZ is NOT part of the Chamionship.. that is now ended. It is the second game in a two game series to decide the Bledisloe Cup. Since NZ hold the cup, Australia need to actually WIN the 2 match series to take it off them...they are 1-0 now, they win the series if they win or draw next week's game. NZ retain the Bledisloe Cup if they win next week. |

As I commented..POOL A seems to be a "tough" pool. ![]() In fact unfair compared to the others. It seems logical (and fair) that each pool has 2 teams likely to go through to next level (expected top 8 teams). I know "upsets" are always possible, but Pool A has THREE teams who are in top 8 on current and historical form viz Australia (3rd) England (4th) Wales (6th) ALL deserve to at least take part in quarter finals. It looks to me like Samoa (11th) has been gifted a passage to quarter finals. Promoted from 11th (formerly 9th) into the top 8, whereas WALES, 6th (and formerly 6th) has been DEMOTED out of the top 8!!! ![]() Who do I contact about this? ![]() #WELSHLIVESMATTER So... I repeat WE (Wales) gotta beat the English PS FIJI are not likely too go too far in the competition. (They traditionally favor "Rugby 7's" game and are WORLD LEADERS) They can be a HARD physical team to beat on the day. INJURIES are always a worry when playing against Fiji.. so again a TOUGH Pool to get through |

Good news from the England V France game.... England are CRAP (Augurs well for Wales - "As long as we beat the English") ![]() Quote: Ex-England fly-half Paul Grayson on BBC Radio 5 live "Having nailed your colours to the mast and started with ostensibly your strongest 15, for them to be this poor, well that poses some big questions for England. If you'd mixed the team, then you could have had some leeway, but these guys have played lots of matches together. Not that you would know tonight." After 61 minutes: France 22-6 England |
