Play underway. The pitch looks good, weather glorious sunny day. IMO a score of 300+ is achievable, so if NZ can get close to that (or more) it will be a good game with India set that target. IF NZ get only about 250 (or less) I think India will have little trouble bettering it. But... as they say... cricket is a "funny old game" ... unexpected events can happen. |

Oh dear... NZ has already lost two wickets (2 players out) After 8 (of 50) overs... score 32/2 NOTE:.... just to be annoying in NZ score quoted as 32/2... in Australia that would be quoted as 2/32 ![]() Australia uses the reverse of what the rest of the world uses ![]() |

A key point in the game is the 40 over mark... leaving 10 more overs. It is normal to score at a high (ish) rate in last 10 overs... averaging say 10 per over is doable. NZ are 202/4 so have a chance of a final score of 300+ As I said... much less than 300 is not likely to be a winner score. The loss of 4 wickets (batters out) is a worry..... the more aggressive batting often means players get out in the last 10 overs too and the batters lower down the list are usually not the best at batting (they are in team as bowlers) |

Very aproxinmate to DOUBLE the score after 30 overs to predict final score... After 30 overs, score: India 137/4 so 274 predicted.... India need to improve on that. |

I think this should be a pitch where 280 to 300 is scored? Current score 54/1 after 10 overs... not a great performance so far... too slow a scoring rate |

Apparently...... IF India lose this game.... they also lose their world no.1 ranking..... fall to 2nd and Australia take the lead ![]() Watching 4 teams play ODI over the last few days Oz, England, NZ, India...... I see Oz as clearly the best (head and shoulders) ![]() |

Oh dear... the real bug-bear of cricket... "Rain Stops Play" Rain changes the playing conditions a little... and obviously effects the game just from the point ofr view of lost time. Time can be made up for short delays... but after that reduced number of overs... right down to as few as 25 each can make the game a bit of a farce. Obviously less overs means a different type of play... hence the "Crash and Bash" version of the game is "20/20"... a type played with a big following... but quite different from ODI. |
