Nz 5 wickets down before they scored a team 100.. not half the day gone yet. :doh

At least we KNOW this Test wont end in a draw!! :cool

And... I cant imagine Australia batting being as hopeless as NZ.. so Australia should win.

When I say "hopeless" .. I mean it. This is TEST CRICKET.. not a 20-20 bash... the top batsmen just need to SURVIVE.. and they are not up to it :roll
IF Australia do equally poorly.. then sure maybe its the "bad" pitch or the pink ball? :roll

But I dont think that is the case.

and.... NZ's WEAKNESS is normally it's "limp" bowling attack.. batsmen generally do OK (ish) :cool

I was impressed with the last session. A big improvement from the start. :roll
Santner did well in his Test debut.

Looking forward to this historic ending of the day. I hope it lives up to the hype.

Great to see an almost record-breaking crowd showing up.

Pardon my giddiness, this is all new to me. :)

So far Mark Taylor's pre-match "reality check" has proved true: It is just a normal test match with an "off-red" ball. You cant see the real lighting effect on TV... maybe it is quite dark? Though again, Mark Taylor suggested it would only be dark for the final hour. NZ being a bit CRAP has also been the norm for years.... that is why I turned to following Australia years ago :cool

So it is at least Australia (not NZ) who will face the "unusual" conditions.. under lights facing the new pink ball.

At this very moment South Africa are playing a Test in India (that match progressing an hour behind this one with the time zone difference)..... it seems to me they have a bet on with NZ.. who can be the most hopeless?

Scores are level as players leave the field for dinner.

So the game becomes akin to an ODI.... but not limited to 50 overs... both sides can bat as many overs as they are up to... 10 wickets is the limiting factor for each side. There are still 3 days plus the final session tonight... time is NOT a limiting factor.

NZ need to set Australia a BIG target to make... they can take as long doing that as they want :)

Good day, Rumpole :)

'Ridiculous waste of time and wrong decision'
In five minutes, Nathan Lyon was twice ruled not-out, controversially.
The Twitter world did not hold back

http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-new-zealand-2015-16/content/story/945125.html

On television, Llong was heard suggesting to Ravi that the Hot Spot mark could have been caused by anything, and that he couldn't be sure it was from Lyon edging the ball.
MY favorite is what Matthew Hayden tweeted. :)

and Brydon Coverdale's tweet about the "strong partnership" after the call.

THAT was the big impact of the call!

I don't think we've heard the last of this. ;)

The WHOLE POINT of the 3rd Umpire is to check on "bad" umpire decisions. The on-field umpires do a great job (mostly), but they do have a difficult job at times with only a fleeting single view live. They themselves welcome the additional technology and ability to replay a few times.. (including slow motion). So... we have all the extra technology.. as well as replays.. full speed and slow motion. All this stuff has now been accepted as accurate by ICC and individual national cricket boards.... it did take some convincing to get to that point.. but we did.. many years ago... it HAS been proven accurate and reliable.... EVERYBODY accepts "hotspot" for instance... Nigel Llong is a dope!!!

Even though I am "an Aussie" for cricket.... after this travesty of "Umpiring" I hope NZ can get up and win this game.... :95

I would give them LESS than an even chance.. but "Cricket is a funny old game" :cool

This is what makes Nigel's statement (to the world) that the "hotspot mark could have been caused by anything" completely asinine. The latest technology is there!

Own it!
