As an aside:
Just to accommodate the aberration of women playing cricket....There was an initial push by the "PC brigade" to start referring to batsmen as "batters".. and stuffing about with cricket terminology in general..

I am pleased to see that has died a natural death.. even for women's cricket... even the female ex-player commentator talked about the women "batsmen"

I see that even goes a far as to have FEMALE "12th Men"
