I think it's inevitable that Australia will WIN this test match.

They could knock off 131 runs before lunch.. but that would require a better RR than is the norm in Test cricket. I hope they do though, else the game will dribble on to lunch and then they will all have to go through the motions again for just an hour or so after lunch.

Australia outplayed NZ generally. In fact this win would have happened a day or so earlier if not for just the fast (record) century by McCullum in the first NZ innings. The rest of the NZ play in both innings was crap (with just a few flashes of OK play by the odd individual)

Rigor and the commentary team are opining about McCullum's start in cricket.

It transpires that when McCullum came out to bat on debut in BOTH 1st class cricket (for Otago) and in an ODI (for NZ).. the partner he joined at the crease was.............. RIGOR RICHARDSON... who knew? :wall

As Doully opined.. maybe Rigor did us a service... McCullum saw how Rigor played from the other end.. and immediately VOWED to play the opposite to that.. boring fart slow to score runs :cool

They just played a clip of McCullum's ODI debut.. RUN OUT by..... you guessed it..... Mark Richardson.
Scathing commentary at the time (by Smithy) about Richardson having caused the run out.. and other problems in that innings.... Smithy described Richardson as having "sold McCullum up the river.

Just one on MANY events that caused me to dislike Richardson as a player.. and I hate the bastard as a commentator :roll

(I'll see if I can find a clip) :cool

NZ have taken another wicket.. but the Australian WIN is inevitable still.

20 mins to lunch and Australia require just 58 runs.

I seem to recall that they can (and do) delay lunch (for half an hour) if a result is imminent?

I guess the umpires get to decide on enforcing that?

Apparently... Capt can ask for delay.. 4 overs/15 minutes if they think they can get a result.

Smith is going for that apparently.

At scheduled lunch time... Australia need 32 to win

NZ have been SLOW bowling overs they only bowled 26.. they should have to make up 4 overs anyway... and be told to speed it up too.. and IMO.. play as long as it takes to end game.

lunch

New Zealand 370 & 335
Australia 505 & 185/3 (50.0 ov)
Australia require another 16 runs with 7 wickets remaining

The extra time was not enough for Australia to score the runs needed.

It is a TRAVESTY that it took NZ the extra 20 mins to bowl the normal session requirement of 30 overs :59

They SHOULD have been forced to do that anyway.. and then give Australia an extra 4 overs on top of that :cool

:91 Australia WIN :91

New Zealand 370 & 335
Australia 505 & 201/3 (54.0 ov)

Australia won easily.

NZ were made to look better than they mostly were.. by McCullum's swashbuckling 1st innings.

I'm having a bit of withdrawal today .. always do after a Test match. ;) So I'll be ready for this and other games played this weekend. Since it is T20, I will watch the women's also.

Just checked the stream schedule and it lists through Saturday the 27th, so will look tomorrow to see if it is streamed -- hope so.

I don't recognize hardly any of the players which will be even more exciting. :)

Women playing cricket is DAFT (IMO) :cool

But... T20 is a bit of a joke and daft game anyway... just as well add to the circus by having women players :cool

FWIW... NZ won the toss and sent Australia in to bat.

The TIME seems to be 2 hours earlier than shown at espn.

Australia are favorites having beat NZ is the 3 match ODI series (Aust 3 - NZ 1)

Innings Break

AUSTRALIA WOMEN 113/7 (20.0 ov)

113 seems a pathetic score for a T20? (less than 6/over).... Women!! :roll

Target for NZ 114 (5.7 runs/over)
