SA Dismissed

4.45 pm South Africa have been dismissed with a deficit of 213 but India are not enforcing the follow on. Their openers have rushed off the field, I've been told. I'm not sure how good the light is to face fast bowling so we might not get much more play.

Stumps - Day 2

India 334
South Africa 121

South Africa trail by 213 runs

India declared 267/5

They delayed declaration long enough for Rahane to make a century.... one of few to make 100 in each innings.

There is still time for some play before lunch. (20 minutes)

India 334 & 267/5d
South Africa 121 & 2nd innings to be played

India lead by 480 runs, Target for SA is 481

Batting for TIME... long inning to SAVE a match....
It is a feature of TEST cricket... More to cricket than bash and crash :cool

Quote:
4.30 pm
South Africa have deadbatted 72 overs for 72 runs for the loss of their openers. Some fans at the Kotla are chanting AB, AB as de Villiers walks off the field with Hashim Amla. It's been an immense performance from South Africa today, they have shown vast reserves of patience and sheer bloodymindedness in blocking. India have bowled everything at them but only managed to prise out Elgar and Bavuma, who also played his part in the blockathon. Today's cricket has not been for everyone, but it's offered a most unique type of entertainment.

Shoaib: "Patience Patience Patience Patience.... Aaaarrghhhh .... I will become the patient by watching this"

Riyaz Ahmed: "That boundary from ABD was to match 72 for 72 :)"

Yusuf: "This is painful to watch but it is Test Cricket at its best. SA are not giving up, they are ready to play a very long innings, this is what they need to show, fight till the last ball."

Rakesh: "Test Cricket at its best! This is what we wan to see in T20 times."

Amla 23 off 207 balls, AB 11 off 91 balls. How long can they continue tomorrow? India need only eight wickets. I'll be back tomorrow morning for a fifth day, imagine that! Thank you for all your emails today, they kept me going! And thanks for reading. Cheers.

LUNCH

And SA have only lost 1 wicket in the morning session

India 334 & 267/5d
South Africa 121 & 94/3 (107.0 ov)

South Africa require another 387 runs with 7 wickets remaining

NOTE
India managed to bowl 35 overs in the session :roll
Yet they struggle (and fail) to bowl required 30 overs in a session on most occasions. PROOF that there is normally a LOT of time wasting. Teams should be penalized more harshly for failures to bowl minimum overs. In fact there is no reason why 100+ overs could not be bowled regularly in a days play.(Min Requirement is 90) :stamp

TEA

India 334 & 267/5d
South Africa 121 & 136/5 (138.0 ov)

South Africa require another 345 runs with 5 wickets remaining

SA still hanging in there, but they lost another 2 wickets. Still... not much longer to survive... the final session may well be shortened.

Quote:
2.10pm Wonderful effort from AB and SA in this session again. They go to tea, five down. Light will definitely play a factor in that last session. India need five wickets. Play can go on till a maximum of 4.30pm, India will have one hour to bowl how many overs of spin they can before the start of the final hour, from which point a minimum of 15 overs can be bowled. Will we get enough play? I do not think we will see more pace in this game, so over to Jadeja and Ashwin after tea.
