I recall a BIG pop star in Australia when I was a boy (60's)... Johnny O'Keefe.. related???

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_O'Keefe

Apparently he died..
Johnny O'Keefe died on 6 October 1978, from a heart attack induced by prescribed drugs.

("She's My Baby" was added to the National Film and Sound Archive's Sounds of Australia registry in 2007.)

Lunch taken as a wicket fell in 28th over. A POOR over rate to only get to 28

STUMPS - Day 1

India 189
Australia 40/0 (16.0 ov)

Australia trail by 149 runs with 10 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

Just looking at the day's score.... India are still "at it"... producing pitches to suit (their) spin bowlers.. to the detriment of the game. One expects groundsmen to nurture "local conditions", but at the end of the day a pitch provided for a TEST MATCH has to meet some basic standards and requirements for a proper Test Match". There is supposed to be a "BALANCE between bat and ball". One expects a test pitch to suit (talented) batsmen for a few days, but deteriorate over 5 days, perhaps suiting spin bowlers on the 5th day. I didn't watch this day's play.. but I see that India's first innings was over in less than 3 sessions.. on day one, when the pitch is "at its best" for batting? Lyon took 8 wickets. Lyon 8/50

Commentators saying it would be a change in the game if India could get Smith out before lunch.
After the wicket, they are still going with "it's a BIG wicket", blah, blah.
I'm thinking the out is in Australia's favor. Today is not Smith's day.

We'll see. ;)

ETA
Gonna be 1 ov a few overs short of 30 by lunch.

LUNCH Day 2

India 189
Australia 87/2 (45.0 ov)

Australia trail by 102 runs with 8 wickets remaining in the 1st innings

I agree.. Smith was bogged down.

It is a CRAP pitch.. all Aust can do is survive... take runs anyway they can.

After lunch.. Aust probably still need to go slow... keep wickets intact... but after say 50 more runs.. I think they should take the log bat to these annoying Indian bowlers and fielders surrounding the batsman... watch them scatter after a few sixes hit :)

Oh, I hope this DOES happen. I'm always waiting for those runs.

So sick of seeing Asshat (Ishant) making faces, then they show Kohli smiling.

The Indian commentator (Sanjay?) keeps saying how amazing the bowlers are today. ;)

Yeah.. well.. the bowlers look good on a CRAP wicket designed to make batting damn near impossible!!

As I have said.. every country tends to prepare pitches to suit that counties style of play.. but there are LIMITS.

Local conditions and soils etc do limit what CAN be prepared.. and how fast the pitch deteriorates.. but the pitch should at least be good to bat on for 2 days or more.. not a spin bowler's dream on day 1

It was poetic justice that India lost the last game.. they deserve to lose this one as well.

As I was saying......

India to be fined by ICC for producing ‘poor’ Pune pitch
Ben Horne, The Daily Telegraph
March 1, 2017 1:19pm

FURTHER merit has been added to Steve Smith’s hundred in Pune after the ICC officially reported the Pune pitch as unacceptable.

India has been put on notice for the “poor” condition of the wicket and the BCCI is now under intense pressure not to prepare another rank turner for the rest of this series.

It’s an embarrassing turn of events for the BCCI, who have not only been exposed for their pitch doctoring ways, but have copped a taste of their own medicine.

India’s attempts to order a turning pitch in Pune backfired spectacularly, with Virat Kohli and their batsmen becoming victims of the BCCI’s own attempts to control conditions and undermine their opposition.

All eyes will be on the Bangalore wicket for the second Test, which will be unveiled to both teams later today.

GREAT to see the ICC listened to Rumpole :cool

I said that ICC needed to punish India after the Pune pitch.... I would say they need to punish them again for bangalore

I friggin' love it, Rumpole! Who knew? YOU! :cool

"Australia are preparing for a much flatter pitch in Bangalore which is expected to favour India because spinners Nathan Lyon and Steve O’Keefe will be forced to work even harder for their wickets."

Yeah, Lyon worked really hard for his 8 wickets yesterday. LOL

Thank you, India.

Australia look to be in a good position :)

IMHO they need to come out today and "bat like warrior poets" (whatever that means?.. BRAVEHEART :roll )

ANY lead on 1st innings is great.. a 100+ more (1st innings lead of 150) would be brilliant)

To hell with India's spinwiz bowlers and bob-tail grimacers.... Australia need to hit some friggin 6's :cool

Is this the day that Australia retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy?

Apparently Australia hold the trophy at the moment.. and so even a drawn series will leave them retaining the Trophy :)

IF they win this Test they confirm a draw, or better (2 wins in 4-game series)

I didn't even know about the trophy. Must be what Smith meant when he said (paraphrasing) with a couple of more sessions like they have played, and they will retain the trophy. The article said that Kohli walked away laughing.

I'm excited about tonight's Aus batting. How long can they go?
